Ooh, New York's Look Book captures John Waters on the subway!
Do you always ride the subway?Word! We'd love for his next movie to involve the subway system - something like Pink Flamingos meet C.H.U.D.
People always ask me what I’m doing on the subway, but I love it! Sometimes I like to ride in the front car and look out the window at the rats. I’m just glad I’m not crippled, because I hate the bus. Every block takes a hundred hours.
And contrary to anecdotal evidence, he actually loves it when people are nice when they recognize him, as it makes him "feel like Oprah."

I love Cry Baby.
While this clearly belongs in the "things not to get worked up over" category, I hate this statement: "People always ask me what I’m doing on the subway..."
Who are these ridiculous people? Sure, the subway has its problems, but it's by and large the best way to get around the city. And it's the cheapest option BY FAR. People who eschew the subway because of their residual prejudices from the 1970s and 1980s really need to get over it already.
Too bad Devine isn't around for the casting of Pink Flamingos meet CHUD. She could choke to death while eating a conductor's hand. Is Mink Stole still around?
You're a real CHUD, do you know that? A real fucking CHUD! How can you eat so many people? How can you STAND yourself?
ha! i politely greeted waters on 6th avenue once, identifying myself as a fellow baltimore person, and he about took my head off. i guess we all have bad days.
Ben - I don't know, but if I were "famous" I'd avoid the subway just so I didn't get trapped in a car with crazy people who would bug me. I'm sure it's more about that. Famous people take cabs.
k - a friend said she saw John Waters and just as she was about to gush and say how much she loved his films, he gave her the evil eye and she never said a word.
I said hello to Jack Cafferty on the subway. We were all coming back from a Yankee game. He also mentioned it's the best way to get to the stadium.
He was a very nice guy and was there with his sons.
But then I was 14 then, maybe he didn't wanna be nasty to a kid. Still a nice guy.
