Can we just never hear about O.J. Simpson again? The whole idea the book and planned TV special from O.J. Simpson who explains how he would have killed his wife if he did it is just so disgusting and exploitive, we can't believe it was ever allowed. But we're naive and such is life, and the story has been getting crazier, with the book's publisher Judith Regan issued a statement saying she published the book because she was a victim of abuse.
I made the decision to publish this book, and to sit face to face with the killer, because I wanted him, and the men who broke my heart and your hearts, to tell the truth, to confess their sins, to do penance and to amend their lives....Regan's alleged abuser David Buckley, says to the Post, "I feel victimized that she uses this as a way to make her living." He adds that his "physical aggression" towards Regan was "nothing more than playground tussles."...To publish does not mean 'to endorse'; it means 'to make public.' 'If you doubt that, ask the mainstream publishers who keep Adolf Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' in print to this day. ... There is historical value in such work ... for anyone who wants to gain insight into the mind of a sociopath.'
The Daily News has made shaming the Simpson book its mission. In its cover story, Fox News star Bill O'Reilly rants about it damning potential sponsors of the special. (Of course, Fox News and the book's publisher Harper Collins are both owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.) And the Daily News has an editorial about the book. Here's the beginning:
If we were writing an editorial about Judith Regan today, we would say should have kept her mouth shut about what a shining angel of mercy she is, selflessly advocating on behalf of all battered women, bringing them dignity, worth, surcease from sorrow, etc., etc. There's also a thoughtful essay from the president of the National Organization of Women, Kim Gandy, who writes:If any of that were slightly true, Regan would not have put her boss Rupert Murdoch's blood money into a "third-party" deal with O.J. Simpson that essentially guarantees that the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman - among the very people for whom her saintly heart so bleeds - cannot collect a dime of the several million dollars O.J. is waltzing away with. Yeah, screw them.
As for Judith Regan's justification that publishing this book provides victims like her some closure, survivors of violence have their own ways of healing. That is not for me to analyze.Of course, many critics of the book and Fox special airing next week are urging the public not to buy or watch the show. Regan says she bought the rights to the book through a third party, thinking the money would go to Simpson's children, but a lawyer for the family of Ronald Goldman, who was killed along with Simpson's ex-wife, may sue for part of the proceeds.I just hope that Regan did everything in her power to ensure that any funds that come from the book go to victims of violence."
Barnes & Noble and Borders will be carrying the book. Borders says they will donate their profits to charity while Barnes & Noble says they are stocking the book like they do most any book. What's sad is that even if people don't buy the book, they'll be drawn to the stores out of curiosity.

Boycott Judith Regan. Shun her. Treat her as the pariah that she is.
If Regan's motives were what they say they are, she would have taken more care to ensure that the money went to OJ's kids, to the victims' families, or to charity. I'd have more respect for her if she admitted that she bought the book because she knew it would sell and make millions. None of this BS about closure and domestic violence. What a disgusting person. She's now held in just slightly higher regard than a now-almost-confessed murderer. What a gem.
Judith Reagan is a blood sucking whore of a human being who cares nothing for the souls of the wrongly killed and provinding a voice for a killer. Boycott her! and tell her what you think!
I have so much respect for Borders right now. At least, given the terrible nature of this book, some small good might come out of it.
The entire thing is disgusting.
The whole fact that this will be on Fox and the book is from another arm of News Corp. isn't a shock. Just look at The Post and Fox News Channel - crap, crap, crap.
I hope that the Goldman's and Brown's get any profits from this book, but then again, if I were them, I don't think I'd want it. It'd be like blood money.
And, Toby, I agree with you. In fact, why don't we boycott Fox for just one day. Oops, I forgot. I haven't watched thier version of the news, in years.
Years ago, OJ tried to have a phone number set up, something about where you could call and hear some tape of him proclaiming his innocence, and I think he tried to sell something too. Some tabloid hack suggested that everyone call the number, and when they got the operator, start asking stupid questions, like, "Where's OJ now?" "Is he ever on this phone line?" "Where does he live now?" "Is my money refundable?" "Where are YOU-in OJ's house?"
This tied up the phone lines so much, that within a day or two, OJ had to scrap it.
O.J. Simpson may have gotten away with murder for over 10 years. He may live another 20 years a free man. If you believe in the Almighty, however, one can take solace in the idea that he will pay for his crimes in the next life for all eternity. Maybe he'll be shackled to a rock in hell next to Judith Regan.
Judith Regan needs therapy. Seven days a week type of therapy. OJ needs to just go away.
Sound likea great book. I hope to get a copy or two soon.
For her next project, Judith Regan is going to chronicle who she enjoys slathering up with rancid rodent fat and slithering down into the fetid sewer to orally molest innocent alligators.
So, Judith, if the purpose of the book is NOT to make a buck, why is it copyrighted?
Big deal ! So what if someone wants to turn a profit off this . This is not a serious issue here . Let it go people, The man was acquitted of the crime . Ever though we all know he did, There were just to many variables in play with that whole O.J thing that the best thing to do was to let him go. Got to give it to the late Johnny Cochran, His line "If the glove don't fit, You must acquit" . Priceless Utterly .......PRICELESS!!!!!
Regan supports this book & the show tie-ins because she knows there are thousands of curious idiots out there who will buy it & read it & watch it.
It's about the $$$. It's that simple.
For all those people crying foul, I bet a large number of them will read the book or watch the show out of curiosity...they are the ones who keep giving OJ a forum to delight in his guilt and reap in the dough.
My condolences to Ron and Nicole's family, who probably feel their loved ones are being victimized all over again.
First - Foley cries that he was abused when he was caught with his hands in the cookie jar. Now Regan is using her abuse as a scapegoat. Please. Deal with your abuse in therapy. Don't use it to cover your ass. She aligned herself with a murderer - why ele is he doing this sad book. Because he thought he could get away with it. Justice might not have been served. (If OJ didn't do it - who's the killer?) but the voice of the people has stopped this insanity. Bravo!
I have lost ALL respect for this pitiful, sleazy, sorry, slimy excuse for a "publisher" by the name of Judith Regan. She should be ashamed that she would even entertain the idea of giving this double murderer the airtime to spew his garbage and give yet ANOTHER slap in the face to the families of his victims. Judith, hon, we ALL are waiting for your apology, and we WILL NOT stop hounding you until we, as a nation, get one.
I think Judith Regan should be fired for her act of wanting to publish O.J. Simpson's book. Her company is out the advance they paid Simpson, and her actions have tainted the image of her employer as well. I have been fired for less. Truly, I don't think the publishing world would be out much if Regan was ousted. This is after all, the same woman responsible for trashy books about people like Scott Peterson. I rank Judith Regan in the same category as Sondra London, the woman who was once engaged to a serial killer and helped him tell his story in a book. Killers should never gain profit from their books. I believe Florida sued London over her ill-judgment and won since she was allegedly aiding a killer in profitting from his ill deeds. If killers want to tell their story in a book they should self-publish, which would mean they would have to market it themselves and would not be paid a hefty advance by a huge publishing house like HarperCollins, Warner Brothers Books, or the like.
OJ Simpson is a sick freak. You say you did NOT kill your wife but write a book on how you WOULD do it??? How could anyone even have the stomach to write about killing a loved one if they didn't do it? This is just a ploy to get $ money $ ! He has a twisted mind, if you ask me!
P.S. You guys it's just a debate, not the end of the world! Please don't swear--it doesn't help your opinion more or less. Thanks!
