Spitting Makes For Bigger Problems

2006_11_brassknuckles.jpgSometimes people are just not that bright. A Hazleton, Pennsylvania man spit on a traffic agent in Queens who was writing him a summons. So the traffic agent called for more police, who found a "cache of guns and burglary tools" in the cars. The Post describes the items as "three loaded pistols, brass knuckles, billy clubs, black jacks and window punchers," not to mention the live round of ammo in the pocket of driver Ganija Vucetovic. We imagine he was arrested.

There is something reassuring about potential criminals getting caught by their own stupidity, but honestly, what's with the spitting?

Can we assume Vucetovic isn't a Mensa member?

I have been to hazleton PA. It is not the type of place that breeds noble prize winners and rocket scientists. In fact I believe the county it is in has the highest high school dropout rate in PA.

Yikes, Jeremy. Thanks for the unintentional irony. It's the "Nobel Prize." http://nobelprize.org/

Spitting at somebody has always been a very cheap way to show contempt. But what I've never understood is people spitting on the sidewalk, often in crowded conditions. Hey, it's in your mouth already. Just swallow it!

If you had the insight to look beyond this as a "weird news" story, you'd see that this represents a continuation of the Giuliani Broken Windows technique of crime prevention. Criminals simply do bad things in every aspect of their lives. Over 1/2 those who hop turnstiles have warrants for their arrests. People who smoke in subway stations often have warrants or weapons. The same applies here.

You should focus on the system and parking agent who felt confident enough to pursue a seemingly minor offense as spitting at someone.

He doesn't live in PA.. just has a house there for ins reasons.. always knew this guy was rich for a reason...

I feel this mans civil rights were violated.Maybe the ACLU should press charges on the policeman who stopped him. When has spitting become a crime in this country? I am sure he was pulled over due to racial profiling he had the constitutional right to spit in the officers face.

I Knew Ganija Vucetovic for a long time and quite frankly he is a honest and dedicated man to what he does.

All members of the Vucetovics family, friends relatives are a hundred percent sure that he never spit on the traffic agent. Mr . Vucetovic spent all his life in uniform:20 years in miltary and 7 years as an auxillary cop in the city of New York and he knows very well what respect is. He will prove to his own chlidren, family, friends and relatives and law enforcement agencies, that he is innocent. The traffic agent one day will realize how it is to be falsely accused, and he will testify against himself.

This story was printed in the NY Post, a poor publication that hardly qualifies as journalism. As I am not aware of the exacts of this case, I will not say much, but I will say that people should cease to cast judgment upon that which is a mere allegation. Sensational journalism is what the Post does best. I am willing to believe that this man did no such thing, and there must be a reason he was in possession of those weapons. Perhaps the NYPD or law enforcement officials from Pennsylvania might have a clue....hmmmmm

My daughter was always an honor student until she attended 9th grade at Hazleton Area High School, the school has a big problem with the kids cutting classes and leaving the school and the school staff is fully aware of this problem but they will do nothing about it but send the parents a fine and blame them for the problem, when a child walks into school in the morning isn't it the schools responsability to make sure that child stays in school and is not be roaming the streets of Hazleton?

Gianja Is My Uncle And Also he is a very respectable person, He spent almost half of His Life In Milltary And Law Inforcement. He Also did not have any burglary tools on him He only Had 3 Redristred Pistols And A police Issued Night Stick. He Did Not Spit In The Cops Face . Even Though The Cop Made Racial Jestures At Him. So For No Reason They Arrested Him And Put Him To Jail, While He Was In Jail For No Reason, The Poor Guy Had A Heart Attack. Thank God He Recovered. But The Police Had No Reason For Arresting Him.

Ganija Vucetovic is my uncle is a very good man. he is a very loving person towards his family and what has been done to him is not fair. he was punished for something he did not do.

Hello to everyone!

To believe something like the story that "NY POST" published is very hard. I can NOT believe my eyes what I was reading.
I was in the Military for 18 yr. in the same uniform as Mr. Vocetovic, I knew him very well, spend with him a very nice 16 yr., at the same base in the military, very respected officer, friend and father. Something like this pops out in the news and is very hard for the man to heel. Hope one day they understand that this man is accused falsely. This is how NYPD returns back to people ho do good things for them. Hi was, is and will always be my very good friend.
