COMEDY: We have a love-hate thing for Jon Lovitz. We've caught him on everything, from SNL to The Critic to Artie Ziff (The Simpons), but we've yet to see his stand up routine. Tonight he'll bring the funny to Comix, and a set of original songs as well, we hear. Jon Lovitz: the singer, we've yet to be introduced to that either.
8pm // Comix [353 W 14th St] // $35
THEATER: For seven performances only, New Yorkers have the rare chance to catch a new play by the Alchemical Theater, which was founded in part by members of the legendary Living Theater. New Science is inspired by the writings of 18th century Neapolitan philosopher Giambattista Vico; the production is billed as “part-comedy, part-tragedy, 100% scientific experiment”. New Science tackles themes of the rise and fall of civilizations, humanity’s earliest origins, and the science of the imagination. The brains behind the show boast that “if you care to see truly avant-garde theater - not Broadway/Hollywood/sitcom wannabes - do not miss” New Science. - John Del Signore
8pm // Theater for the New City [155 First Ave] // Tickets cost $10
