- Lots of news out of the Shake Shack today. First, the "Z" in the "Frozen" sign collapsed, nearly killing a man, and then they announced that the Shack will be closing its doors for winter on December 1.
- These pictures from the Ron Mueck show at the Brooklyn Museum are freaky!
- Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a Hazmat condition with victims on Warren Street in Brooklyn, an aircraft emergency at JFK, and a fire at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
- Two years after credible witnesses came forward saying he was innocent, Josh Rivera is still in prison for a 1992 murder.
- A mother threw her children to safety from their burning Brooklyn home.
- The city blew $1.3m fighting the Critical Mass bicycling demonstrations over the last two years. Astounding!
- The City Council voted to give itself 25% raises - another $22,500! Well, since voters don't want to remove term limits, we suppose they better take what they can get.

The city council voicing themselves raises is ridiculous and aggravating. For the most part, its not even a full time job and many have side work. UGH... Your tax dollars at work.
both of your critical mass links don't work
Now I know who's affording those ridiculously-priced Manhattan apts.
Thank GOD shake shack is closing. It’s the last time I want to hear about that place for a long time.
Shake Shack is definitely closing on the 1st, but they're opening up thirty new locations on the 7th and have bought all ad time on local television startions until Christmas. Oh, and they've put a shack cam in Kojak's bedroom.
ha ha
Amazing photos of the baby installation. Thanks for that!
Is there any other back-up to your claim that the Z from the Shake Shack facade nearly killed a man?
