Isn't "sick passenger" just a euphemism for "somebody jumped in front of / got hit by the train"? When the hell do they stop the train because somebody has a tummyache?

I just wish the MTA would finally admit that its attempts at eminent domain against the CHUDs, Morlocks and Molemen have failed.

"Residual Delays" = someone lost their sh*t on a packed as sh*t, slow moving L train.

I agree w/ commenter above, walking the distance is actually faster, heck you even have time for a coffee cart stop upon arrival.

Maybe they have a stupid ass maddening robot train announcer for "residual delay" too. There is nothing more maddening than having the train stop in the tunnel, then instead of the conductor announcing what's actually going on, Mr. Moviefone comes on and says "We apologize for the unavoidable delay". I want to pull that thing's circuit boards out like HAL's in 2001.

A "residual delay" is service slowness that happens when the cause of the delay has been resolved, but the trains are still readjusting to regular flow.

A regular delay would be when you're stuck in a tunnel because the train ahead of you has a sick passenger on it. The residual delays would occur 15 minutes later when the person has been removed from the train, but the subways are still catching up to regular service speed and intervals.

Is this like the press release they gloriously trumpeted a few weeks back that said the L work was finished and there would be no more service interruptions, except for the parts of the line where the work wasn't finished and there would be further service interruptions?

And I'm very much looking forward to these "Real-Time Information" signs we should be getting within the next two weeks, according to the MTA's statement. Anyone want to join me in holding our breath for those? Anyone?
