Sacha Baron Cohen might be brilliant (and/or crazy), rich, and lawsuit-worthy, but it doesn't seem like he knows how to draw the line between life and art. Two weeks ago, after he appeared on Saturday Night Live, Cohen - dressed as Borat - and SNL host Hugh Laurie went to a bar. That reputable paper, The Sun, reports that Cohen approached a man and said, "I like your clothings. Are nice! Please may I buying? I want have sex with it." To which the man responded by punching him repeatedly.
Cohen escaped with help from Laurie, but it definitely reassured us about something we thought we were missing from the movie - New York-style sucker punches. (But he is lucky he didn't run into one of the many other lunatics in the city with packing heat.) We supposed we'll have to wait for the DVD with deleted scenes. But who doesn't like the fact that the movie studio has been asking Cohen not to go around as Borat just for this reason?
And picking up on our post about two of the RV frat boys suing the filmmakers behind Borat, have you seen this MetaFilter thread from a friend of one of the frat boys?

"frat BOY'S"? Apostrophe??
Don't say "with packing heat." It makes you sound like Borat... unless of course you meant to sound like Borat, in which case you suceeded.
Is'nt saying "Can I touch it?" when refering to another man's genitals a crime yet?? Comeone ADL, get NABLA in gear and lock down all this freedom of expression!
I want to see Borat go to the Bronx..but to make it more exciting he must enter a fast food place.
Borat is nice!. Problem with movie is; Americans who state their opinions there think movie is for show only in Kazakstan, so they say what they REALLY think about US of A, woman, Bush, Iraq war, gays and make sexy with the dogs.
Then when Americans find out movie is for show in USA, they sue because claim what they say in movie is "taken out of the context'.
That why we have saying in Kazakstan, "Bri shochorni vasya probveetye" which means, "Americans are full of the crapshit".
Is nice, yes?.
wow man. people are now doing bad borat impersonations online???
He needs to go away now, news-wise.
Harold Ramis filled in for Ebert this past week and called the humor in (the film) Borat "Swiftian". I almost choked on my Cheerios!
Borat is a lot funnier on film than in the press.
All this talk about him is making his sthick less and less funny.
I think the majority of his appeal was in his mockery of popular American culture, when you pile him into it, he just implodes.
Borat only appeals to mindless idiots and drunk frat boys.
Enough with Borat. Old News
The Bruno Movie comes out 2008
That should be even better.
No doubt someone punched this guy out ... He is as authentic as a foreigner and as annoying as foreigners are ... I know, I've been there, on both sides of the punches
"Borat only appeals to mindless idiots and drunk frat boys."
For the low-brow, in-your-face comedy, yes.
There are more sophisticated people, however, who appreciate the subtlety of skill it takes to convince others to be their unadulterated, racist, sexist and homophobic selves by simply pointing a camera at them and telling them they'll be famous.
Brilliant by way of others' stupidity. yay!
You call that a beating? The unfunny A-hole didn't land in the hospital like he deserved.
