According to the Daily News tabulation of starting and finishing salaries, and the current pension at 50% of the final year, the pension of those heading for Florida will go up by more than the salaries of those hired to teach the most difficult subjects to the city's most disadvantaged children. In other words, the contract keeps the values of New York intact.

And the starting salary for a FDNY FireFighter is $26k. The busiest FD in the world. No wonder there's no "diversity" in the department. Nobody can afford to work there.
