Last Night's Action: Bad News On The Hardwood

2006_11_sknickslogo.jpg-Atlanta 102 New York 92: The Knicks missed a great chance to open the season at 2-0. Facing an Atlanta team that only managed to win 26 games last year. New York turned the ball over 17 times and never got the big basket they needed to make it a game.

Eddy Curry had 20 points, but only 2 rebounds as he went back to displaying the lack of toughness we saw all too often last season. On the positive side, Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury combined for 14 assists and only 3 turnovers.

-Heat 91 Nets 85: New Jersey played tough, with Vince Carter scoring 27, but Shaq and Miami were just too much for them. Dwayne Wade had 17 and Gary Payton added 14 as the Heat rebounded from an embarrassing loss to the Bulls.

-No More Pedro?: Speaking to reporters in the Dominican Republic, Pedro Martinez said he would retire if his shoulder doesn’t heal completely. Considering the amount the Mets are paying him the next two seasons, the team might not be that disappointed.

Two down and eighty more to go . Call me when they get to the midway point of the season .

I didn't catch the game (it's on my to-watch list) but did Marbury wear his $14.98 "Starbury" sneakers? On the one hand, I like his moxy...sticking it to Nike, Reeboks and Adidas. On the other hand, if it is a game breaker....

Was there a lot of chatter about it? Just curious.
