Typical scum city cop abusing his power. Guess "EDEX" neglected to read the second part about cracking the guy on the jaw and knocking him out. Sounds perfectly reasonable and I hope the NYPD treats your relatives in exactly that manner. Fuckhead.

The same cop beat up a very close friend of mine for no other reason than my friend calling the officer an a-hole due to the fact that there was no reason for the officer to be questioning him. Granted he should not have said this to a police officer, but was the police officer correct in macing and beating him? He was hospitalised because of this incident. As far as I can see, we've got a bad cop on our hands and something needs to be done about it.

It is impossible to overstate the significance of the Broad Channel donnybrook. It surely must be the first case in history in which a cop got into a fistfight with a teenager - actually two teenagers! - and the cop actually won. It is vastly more common to hear about, for example, a 16-year-old violently resisting arrest and three cops going off duty with injuries.

*Witnesses say the police used excessive force, with one telling the Daily News, "[Stack] tried to fight the cop. The cop took his baton out and struck his leg. He limped and the cop hit him right in the jaw and knocked him out."* Excessive force? Hardly. The cop was acting on police protocol. He's most definetly not in the wrong. He wacked the kid in the legs (prob begind the knees) because that is how police subdue a perp. It's in the handbook. Keep up the good work, NYPD.

The impact getting hit by a car "severed both of Stepon's legs and hurled him more than 30 feet onto the pavement near the 155th St. exit ramp in upper Manhattan," according to the Daily News. As an example of regular journalism vs. tabloid journalism, the Times also reported the story, but left out the severed legs.
