Design Roundup, Roof Sex Edition

2006_10_rooftopsex.jpg+ Expect another uptown expansion battle, this time involving the New York Historical Society. First neighborhood resident to intimate Paris? Journalist Bill Moyers.

+ Architects Billie Tsien and Tod Williams have been tapped for Lincoln Center’s Harmony Atrium. Say goodbye to the climbing wall.

+ The city is rezoning a 100-block area in the East Village, leading to an 80-foot height cap and more housing. A response to neighborhood newbies Blue and The Hotel on Rivington, maybe?

+ Is Pecha Kucha New York, an event begun in Tokyo, architecture’s answer to speed dating? Expect never-before-seen “illicit images.” Of rejected proposals, that is.

+ And, maxing out your credit cards can actually pay off. In the form of Roof Sex.

80 story buildings in the east village? Whoever the council people responsible for this are, should be voted out of office. The neighborhood is already becoming overrun with corporate toadies without zoning for additional reserves.
