I honestly don't see what the big deal is.

So his dad and by extension and inheritance, Mr. Spitzer is loaded. Big deal. I mean they made it all legally right? They're not slumlords, importing conflict diamonds, clubbing baby seals, or grifting the general public are they? If not, why should this influence how I vote?

Honestly, Mr Bernard Spitzer makes millions on real estate; has 3 kids, one is Attorney General, another son a neurosurgeon, a daughter is an attorney. We should all be so fortunate.

That's right, because many of the most successful democrats were poor, like Andrew Jackson, FDR, and the Kennedys. Oops... I take that back.

It's an interesting fact, but does this matter?

I'm amazed at the fixation of the news media on wealthy individuals who run for office. Ummm, how is this new? Politicians have almost always come from money; I know few successful political leaders who were poor throughout their lives. The only purpose this sort of reporting serves is character assassination; Spitzer, right or wrong, doing his job or not, must be a complete asshole if his family has money, right? Or if he spends his own money on his campaign and he has lots of it, that's supposed to be unfair and unethical? That's nonsense. It is, in the end, irrelevant - money only helps mediocre rich politicians defeat mediocre middle-class politicians, and sometimes it doesn't even work that way.

200 Central Park South is a condo building so the Spitzer's don't own the entire building.

And we all know that if Spitzer were a Republican there would be accusations that he was just another rich guy who inherited his money. Bloomberg only gets a pass because he built his own company - and that he's really a Democrat at heart.
