Laurent Tourondel is so sly! And we are so confused. We read on Eater that BLT Burger wouldn't be open until next Tuesday, so we made appropriate plans. But someone just emailed us:
I discovered while walking down 6th Ave near my apt last night (Wed 10/25) that the latest iteration of the BLT chain had opened, without fanfare. Turned out, BLT Burger had been open for about 2 hrs when I decided to change my plan and give it a try (very good burger, outstanding fries). This is in a spot on the east side of 6th between 11th St. & 12th -- a seemingly promising spot that’s been a sinkhole of death for numerous restaurants over the past 20 yrs, the latest a fish joint that closed a few months ago.So is this a soft opening? We expect a torrent of burger enthusiasts to be rushing to the scene. Let us know if the burgers and fries are indeed flowing.Looks to me like BLT Burger has a shot, though, partly because of the obvious advantage of the BLT moniker and the established following that goes with it, partly because it’s a nice simple concept, apparently well-executed. Friendly staff too – though you’d kind of expect that when they’d only been open for 2 hrs. One waiter told me they weren’t even warned the opening would happen yesterday.

going now...will report back after we return.
For a whopping total of $47.00, we got two burgers, fries, onion rings, a spinach salad, two cokes....tax and tip included in the total.
Burgers were small and ok.
Fries were weak and unremarkable.
Spinach salad was over dressed but had the making of a good salad.
Cokes were pretty flat.
We went to Shake Shack afterwards and redeemed our sense of value. And like cheating on your significant other, you always come back begging saying: "Why did I ever stray??!?!
Thanks for reporting. I wonder if the kitchen is working out the kinks...
I sent the original email re BLT Burger (from work; this is my *real* online identity). I'm not going to argue with conduitgroup or anyone else about taste in food. I did like the featured BLT Burger (two patties, simple bun, lettuce, onion, tomato, some kind of special pepper sauce). But I really liked the fries, which were (in my book) nearly prefect frites -- thin, crispy and salted just right. The decor is what I'd call clean neo-diner, but the Longhorn head mounted in the back is cool. As for prices.. well, yeah: that BLT Burger, fries & 2 Brooklyn Lagers, with (characteristically generous) tip, came to $33. So, a little pricey. But this is Manhattan. I'll be going back and I think others will try it and do the same. Boy are they gonna do some business come Tuesday night...
(smells like brumyr is an employee of BLT.)
$33.00 for a burger, fries and two beers is ok in your book? For $28.00 you can eat a three course lunch at Jean Georges.
Please....
I watched Laurent Tourondel win "Iron Chef" on Food channel last night. He and Bobby Flay were doing all these concoctions with goat cheese...Tournondel's creations were awesome. Didn't realize he's behind BLT Burger!
Walked in last night, and it appears the place is open for business. Was packed with people waiting for tables, even with some finishing work still being done. I got a seat at the bar without a wait, though. Thought the BLT burger was pretty good, washed down with a few Sierra Nevadas. Yeah, it was on the expensive side, but I expected as much with "BLT" in the name, wasn't expecting the Corner Bistro. The staff was nice and eager to please the new crowd, and the atmosphere was pretty cool. I especially liked the frosty beer taps. Didn't have dessert, but a few women down the bar were audibly enjoying theirs. Will certainly return.
Is jbrueck a flack, too?
Fj: looks like another flack to me.
Ok - just came back to my office from lunch there. Friendly staff. Ordered a burger (medium), fries and a coke for $11. Nothing fancy - wanted to try my first order with no cheese, bacon etc. Burger was dark outside, pink and juicy inside. Good flavor. It came with mayo and cucumber in addition to the advertised lettuce, tomato and onion. Bun was a little limp even though it wasn't soggy. Decent thin crispy fries. Overall pretty good. Not Shake Shack good but close. Best feature was the flavor of the burger. Worst was the dead bun it sat in. Price is typical for lunch in this neighborhood. I'll go back to try the BLT burger with green peppercorn sauce sometime soon. Hopefully they will have changed bakeries by then.
I just got back from going with my work buddies. While I prefer the atmosphere of Shake Shack, this is a much better burger. I like Shake Shack and Burger Joint for the toppings, but the burger at BLT didn't need toppings. The meat was very juicy and flavorful. I thought the fries were perfect.
Nope, not a flack, just a guy who ate a hamburger, had a couple of beers, enjoyed it, and wrote about it. Comments posted here consist of two groups: "conduitgroup" and "flacks."

Nope, not a flack, just a guy who ate a hamburger, had a couple of beers, enjoyed it, and wrote about it. As remarkable as it may seem, one can enjoy a meal and discuss without being a flack.

jbrueck....what a retard. press return often?
On a scale of 1-5, with 1 being a terrible burger joint, and 5 being the best, BLT Burger rates a 1.0, nothing more or less. So many problems.....it would be best if the owners simply fired the wait staff, the managers, and the cooks....and started from scratch. Maybe come up with a concept like this:
1. Keep it simple
2. Give the best quality burger for a fair price
3. Put some actual ice cream in the milk shakes they sell
4. Have a wait staff that smiles and actually knows what they are selling.
I know that the above concepts might be a tad difficult to accomplish, but until BLT addresses all of the above, they might well be the worst burger joint I've ever visited, and thats a real shame!
