Senator Hillary Clinton and her Republican opponent John Spencer debated yesterday morning, and as expected, Spencer brought up her presidential ambitions again. He questioned why she was making trips in states that are important electorally and even went as far to say that he happened to like her (he's got nothing to lose, since the GOP isn't throwing any money at his campaign) she'd be a “tremendous” presidential candidate. But that's as far as the Spencer love goes, because the Daily News has some rather personal comments Spencer made:
"You ever see a picture of her back then? Whew," said John Spencer of Clinton's younger days.Wow - imagine if Spencer were elected and he spoke to all reporters like that! It would be comedy gold! It's not like he was going to win the race, but saying crazy stuff doesn't help.... unless he's trying to entice reporters to spend time with him, and then it's actually brilliant."I don't know why Bill married her," he said of the Clintons, who celebrated their 31st anniversary this month.
Noting Hillary Clinton looks much different now, he chalked it up to "millions of dollars" of "work" - plastic surgery.
"She looks good now," he said.
Spencer's bizarre comments came during a conversation with a reporter seated beside him and his wife, Kathy, on the 10:30 a.m. JetBlue flight Friday to Rochester, the site of the race's first debate....
...His comments on her appearance came during a sporadic conversation as Spencer checked out the television on the seat in front of him ("My man Columbo's on!") and then settled into reading The New York Times. (In his words, "Checking in on the enemy.")

I find this totally repulsive.
Not even getting into the stupidity of saying something like this, Hillary looks pretty much the same as she did in all the old pictures they show of her, except younger and maybe wearing glasses.
spencer suffers from the typical republican inability to say anything articulately or intelligent.
The Republicans do seem to excel at personal BS Attacks...

Can you imagine if this were the other way around? Can you imagine if a democratic nominee said something like this about a republican's spouse?
Remember the heat Kerry took because of his wife and how outspoken she was? About her money, etc? This is unbelievable, this type of behavior.
Spencer's wife is one lucky gal. And his kids must be so proud. Apparently he learned how to debate on the playground back in elementary school. What an asshole.
The more I think about this the angrier I become. Shame on him.

It is only brilliant if he is saying something that may save the free world from over zealous, power hungry, world leaders. Or giving the government tips on how to reduce the deficit. Does he have any ideas for make New York better? Other then that he has brilliantly shown how he has nothing to contribute to the political process. That is it.
He sounds like a complete moron. Please...I hope he never serves in public office at any level.

no he doesn't care. but those are the type of people that work on capitol hill. the woman that married him is the type of woman on capitol hill also. she sounds like a gold digger whom doesnt care if she has bastard kids. think God he will not go any higher in office.
Spencer is supposedly a reformed alcoholic. Sounds like he may have started drinking again.
