Last night, Scientologist Beck played at an old Synagogue on Norfolk Street (The Angel Orensanz Foundation). Seeing a show at this venue is always an amazing experience, and last night was no exception. Candles hung in wrought iron chandeliers above the crowd, and Beck and friends took the stage. The hour and a half long set wasn't all mellow, the small Casio they had livened everything up a bit. The evening culminated with the band sitting around a dinner table and playing spoons, glasses and whatever else they could find.
Brooklyn Vegan has some great shots of the show, and the opener Death Vessel.
Stereogum has more, and a setlist.

missed it..already has plans..boooo..oh well at least i get to see some pics :D
Is the fact he is a Scientologist playing in an old synagogue even relevant?
Umm... well the fact that he's a member of the cult that is Scientology is relevant. I mean come on, "let's all be respectful of each other's beliefs" aside, I think we can all agree that Scientology is totally fucking ridiculous. Beck, baby, we hardly knew the!
The validity of identifying Beck as a Scientologist has been established, as long as the word "Scientologist" is preceded by a reference to Beck's height: e.g., "pint-sized Scientologist," "wee Scientologist," "Lilliputian Scientologist." Describing Beck as, simply, a Scientologist is woefully inadequate.
Was this a show only for Scientologists?
Beck is short? I don't get the above post.
How does one get on the list to find out where and how to get tickets to these shows?
"How does one get on the list to find out where and how to get tickets to these shows?"
One could sign up on the mailing list at Beck.com.
Of course, in this case, one might've found out about the show from that list, gone to Ticketweb as instructed, refreshed multiple times until the sale time, then had the website screech to a halt for two minutes, at which time all tickets were listed as sold out. And one would've been pissed.
Hypothetically. >:(
