Pencil This In

ART: Local artist Jen Dunlap is having an art show tonight. It's called Yeep! Yeep!, so it's sure to be fun. Check out her work here, then head over there to see it all up close, while enjoying some free drinks!

7 to 10pm // Riverfawn [11 Harrison St #1] // Free

THEATER: Anne Washburn’s The Internationalist begins previews tonight. Originally presented in 2004, it’s about a young American businessman assigned to an unspecified foreign country where he can’t be bothered to learn the native tongue. As his bewilderment and isolation deepen, his affair with a mysterious co-worker seems to be the only thing keeping him together. (Law & Order buffs might be interested to know that the role of the co-worker is played by A.D.A. Annie Parisse.) - John Del Signore

Friday // 8pm // The Vineyard Theatre, 108 E 15th Street // Tickets

EVENT: We're told Cut&Paste is sort of like the Iron Chef for graphic designers. Through several fast-paced elmination rounds, eight designers will be narrowed down to one finalist. More info on the competition here.

Saturday // 8 to 11pm (Competition); 11pm to 4am (Afterparty) // Brooklyn Sugar [289 Kent Ave] // $10-15

MUSIC: We were totally enchanted by this band last time they were in town, we went to the show not knowing any songs - and now we know them all by heart. So check out Bound Stems (pictured) this weekend, joining them are Maritime, The Secret Life Of Sofia and Heather Duby.

Listen: Western Biographic.mp3 - Bound Stems

Hospital Inside Me.mp3 - Secret Life of Sofia

Saturday // 8pm // Mercury Lounge [Houston at Essex] // $10

THEATER: Vaudeville isn’t the first word that comes to mind when we think of Chekhov, but he first established his theatrical reputation with a series of one-act comic farces. Michael Frayn, the acclaimed author of Noises Off and Copenhagen, has translated these little gems and there’s now a rare chance to see them performed in New York, along with four adapted short stories. Brought to you by the stellar Phoenix Theater, they’re being presented at the Ace of Clubs in Noho, so you can dig the lighter side of Anton with some chilled vodka in a laid-back cabaret setting. - John Del Signore

Saturday and Sunday // 3pm // The Ace of Clubs (below ACME Restaurant), Great Jones at Lafayette Street // Tickets

EVENT: Spend an evening with three Onion writers (we know you've dreamt about this) as they talk to you, read to you and do whatever else they can to entertain you. Head writer Todd Hanson, contributor John Harris, and Onion features editor Joe Garden will all be there. DJ Meat Mistress will provide the tunes.

Sunday // 7pm // Magnetic Field [97 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn] // Free
