One year ago, Kiko, aka Oliver Siandre, was arrested for criminal mischief - he had tagged around fifty locations in Queens. And yesterday, he agreed to plead guilty and was sentenced to 6 months in jail and to pay $25,000 back to the city and the owners of the properties he defaced. Siandre will also be on fiveyears of probation and will have to perform community service. Siandre's lawyer says that Siandre is pursuing jewelry design - which seems to sync with a comment from someone claiming to be Kiko that was posted last year on Gothamist:
Hello people of ASStoria , KIKO says he's really sorry for taggin on athens sq. Pillars. I just wanted to tell everyone that night I was really drunk and I didn't know what I was doing. The next day I saw that and I knew I was gonna pay for that.City Councilman Peter Vallone, who was one of the first people to call and complain about seeing Kiko's Crazy 8 (or C8) tag, said that if Siandre gets in trouble with the law again, he'll be away for a minimum of two years. Vallone added, "All the graffiti he'll be doing for the next six months will be on the inside of his jail cell." Hey, is Vallone promoting vandalism within prison?
I really pray that I don't go to jail because I have a good career as a professional jeweler/model maker & I don't want to ruin my life over something like graffiti. Mabye I'll start asking for permission to do murals from now on. Thank you guys for your support

Seriously this guy is a jackass and a criminal and deserves to be locked up, you Gothamist graffiti apologists should stop toeing Jake's pro-"tagger" line and think for yourself. Vallone may be unhealthily obsessed with graffiti but at least he is actually doing something.

First off jail time for graffiti is RIDICULOUS I mean fine make hime pay back the $25,000 and give him probation and community service. But jail time? murderers go to jail, drug king pins, rapists, go to jail... a graffiti artist who unfortunately was using public property as his mural is not someone who should spend jail time with those people.. and I live in astoria too and believe me these damn bars out here dont adhere to the NO SMOKING clause (although they did shut down Zodiacs after 3 warnings)I dont see vallone doing anything bout that isnt that a law he should b making sure peopleare followin? ... and KIKo graffitied the top of my building one time and let me tell u it was a nice picture to look at when the train would pass by..

the only thing im dissapointed in is his appology...guess what.. graffiti writers arent going anywhere, and when u throw one in jail theres 10 more to replace him...so what!! OH YEAH AND #9 IS GAY!!!!
