Danny and Nina Move to...

2006_10_arts_dn.jpg

Looks like there's one couple in this city who wants out. Danny and Nina want to try a new locale for a while and are putting their destination in your hands.

Danny told us, "While there were a bunch of places that were appealing to us, none of them stood out as THE one, so we decided to put the decision in the hands of the internet population. Visitors who come to our site choose from a list of 250 towns across the U.S. and vote for where we should move. Once we hit 1,000,000 votes, Nina and I are going to pack up and head to the winning town!"

You can read more about their idea here, and of course VOTE right here (you can even vote to keep them in New York). Right now Fort Collins, CO is WAY ahead of the others (we're guessing they have family there).

They're only at 168,222 votes, so they've got some time to pack - and plenty of time to blog.

danny and nina, as two people who have created taken a cute simple idea and developed it into something real, you should know that you've already done more in thatone site than all of those losers who were bashing above. truly. only one of them linked out, and that was a boring anonymous blog. whatever. rest assured it epitomizes what it is to be a loser to spend your free time bashing a cool idea. (you'll notice that the successful people you meet don't have time for negativity.) I hope you make enough money from advertising to pay for your trip, and think Portland!

  • REALITY CHECK

All of the people who have voted on their site, yet won't vote in real life in New York elections, should also move away from New York.

  • robin.g

"hey robin, why don't you help me shove that thing further up my ass"

It seems to be so far in that it's coming out of your mouth already.

  • dude

mihow - don't apologize. Brad and Nina, or whatever theirs names are, have reached new heights of douchebaggery.

My first comment was actually # 2, in case anyone is actually still paying attention to this thread...

  • Chris

    Definately Worcester, MA. It's terrible.

  • Sorry, my above comment was uncalled for.

I voted. I haven't ever heard of their Web site before, but I sent them somewhere quite nice. Granted, only four of us voted for that town, but still...

  • I'm going to start a "Name My Baby" contest. Next week, y'all stop by my blog and name my baby. After it's born, I'll post pictures of it on my blog and post them on Flickr. I might even add in some bathtub shots!

Now, the only thing I have to do is get pregnant.

  • heeeeeeeeelp!

    danny and nina,

    JUST GO!

  • Danny and Nina Must Die.

With such self-consciuous, purposeful navel-gazing and trying-to-be-cute-crap do you really think they will let random people pick where they move? This is to make money for their move by increasing traffic to their site. Rest assured they have probably already put a down payment on the apt. above the coffee shop (w/wi-fi) in the place that has the best public school system. I bet they will name their kid Dania. They are giggling to themselves and patting themselves on the back for being clever. I am quietly vomiting to myself into a bucket at work.

Where do they live now? We better vote for that, or else we'll have to suffer through all the publicity for the book they will write about their year in wherever.

Drama Queen takes this opportunity to randomly promote something she's involved with...

  • more confused than i thought

    i meant fort collins, CO...

Wow, came back from lunch to see that you all have really ripped Danny and Nina a new one. Good job, guys. I felt sort of guilty after my intitial comment, (# 3) but now I see that there are many people equally annoyed by the sugary cutesy-ness permeating that whole site and "concept". It never dawned on me that they would be increasing hits/making money on the site by this idea. I'm a little slow sometimes. But thankfully I'm not nearly as cutsey or irritating as they are. In or out of coupledom. Bleech.

And yes, I have bucketloads of work to do and have no idea why I feel compelled to slag these people.

What is in Fort Collins TX?? I don't get it...

Have you ever heard of urban storytelling? There’s this group in NYC called the Moth, and they put on storytelling events there. Right now, they’ve teamed up with the TV network TNT (we know drama) for some reason, and are doing a contest on Myspace called “What’s Your Story?”. Basically, you submit a video of yourself telling the story of the most risky thing you’ve ever done, and you can win a trip to New York and other cool stuff. It’s actually really interesting and I strongly suggest everyone check it out: www.myspace.com/mothstories . They show a few videos on the myspace page that are worth watching if you’re confused by what they do… It will be interesting to see the different video submissions of people telling their risky stories.

Could someone elaborate on the Neighborhoodies hate? I'm curious to hear more. Something didn't seem right about them -- especially when they started expanding into suburban malls in Cincinnati, for instance, but I'd like to know what's up with the corporate culture there.

Meanwhile, it's a ridiculous idea, but it's working out well. If you're going to leave the city, Fort Collins is a beautiful, charming little city, a stone's throw from the Front Range of the Rockies. Lucky devils.

  • didier

Ways to die huh? Send them to Camden, NJ.

C'mon Danny get THAT on the poll. Do it! Do it! You haven't got the balls!

    Goodtimes.
