Danny and Nina Move to...

2006_10_arts_dn.jpg

Looks like there's one couple in this city who wants out. Danny and Nina want to try a new locale for a while and are putting their destination in your hands.

Danny told us, "While there were a bunch of places that were appealing to us, none of them stood out as THE one, so we decided to put the decision in the hands of the internet population. Visitors who come to our site choose from a list of 250 towns across the U.S. and vote for where we should move. Once we hit 1,000,000 votes, Nina and I are going to pack up and head to the winning town!"

You can read more about their idea here, and of course VOTE right here (you can even vote to keep them in New York). Right now Fort Collins, CO is WAY ahead of the others (we're guessing they have family there).

They're only at 168,222 votes, so they've got some time to pack - and plenty of time to blog.

Oh, that's boring. Come to my site instead, where you'll get to vote on what I eat for lunch.

I voted to send them away to Boise, Idaho simply because I found their website and premise a little too cutsey for me. (I gagged, but not extremely.) Nina has some talent as an illustrator, though. Her earlier work is especially beautiful.

To Danny & Nina,

Thanks for the unusual idea, now get the f*ck out and never darken our doorstep again! I think I swallowed a little vomit after going to their site.

i vote to keep adventurous, open-minded, and perhaps-too-trusting danny & nina and get rid of all the obnoxious haters who commented above.

Ugh! How frivolous! I've never seen a more irritating website. After you throw-up from reading their cutesy copy, be sure to boycott there advertisers.

Let's send them somewhere awful...maybe Alabama or Oklahoma. Nobody in their right mind would go to those places.

I was tempted to be mean, but I don't want to make people unhappy just because they don't know a terrible idea when they see one. Portland, OR it is.

But I also don't care enough to vote more than once. Guess they're going to Boise.

I didn't intend to be mean, but I voted to send them to Oklahoma. I guess I just found it intriguing that they would actually go somewhere like that if some crazy person made it her lot in life to send them there.

I'm not that crazy though, I only voted once.

What a bad idea. I voted to send them to Worchester, MA because I think that's a horrible place to live.

oops! I used the wrong word, the "there" should also be a "their".

sorry!

Jeez, I don't find the website to be very annoying or cutesy at all. Some of you people need to remove the Random Anger Stick from your buttholes.

aside from the fact that their website is painfully contrived, boring, makes me want to self-flagellate and then douse myself in kerosene, you have to give them credit for the adwords plastered all over their site to "pay for the website upkeep". right, the $5 it cost to register the domain and the $2.99/month to host it. if they ever hit 1 million votes on any city, they'll have raked in a nice buck in the process.

Hahahahahahahaha, is Robot an ex-Neighborhoodies employee? That would explain the ad-hate. Never has a company left its former (usually fired) employees quite so disgusted or disenchanted. LMAO.

Danny and Nina are well-intentioned. The cutesiness is native to their couplehood, I think. (For someone once accused of "badittude," which is the basis of my entire internet ID, I can't help but feel amused.)

Cheers to making a quick buck doing something that lacks all semblance of pragmatism.

Oh No! There goes my genius idea. I am so sad, away goes all the money I could've made from advertising... oh wait no, that company doesn't like to pay for that. But who wants to be a intern? Anyone?

i quite like my random anger stick, thank you very much.

hey robin, why don't you help me shove that thing further up my ass, or shut the fuck up - either way, my day will get better.

oh yeah, that site is disgustingly cute. go to hell, douchebags.

i wish there was a vote for ways for them to kill themselves.

For all the gagging people have supposedly done while looking at the site, they still certainly took the time to post a response. Couldn't have been all that bad and uninteresting then, could it? I love the idea and think it's great. What's wrong with being cute anyway? Nina's art, by the way, is really great.

By that company I meant neighborhoodies.com
Apologies to the rest of de companies involved in this *super* idea.

What a bunch of a*holes. Too bad they don't have a legally binding poll on what they should do for some life changing decisions:

"Should Danny and Nina divorce?"
"Should Danny try and get with Nina's younger and prettier sister?"
"Should Nina starve again because she is looking fatter today?"

Who are Danny and Nina and why should anyone care?

Maybe they should just move into the navels, since they've obviously gazed at them enough.

couple of nerds. i am with the commenter above who voted for worcester, mass. 107 votes and counting you lame bitches.

i sent them to bridgeport, ct. probably the worst place in all of ct. i will keep voting for them to go there because i am so offended about how lame of an idea it is.

How 'bout Springfield, OR... so Danny can open a "Leftorium" and go around saying "Hi-diddly-ho, neighborinos!"

Ways to die huh? Send them to Camden, NJ.

C'mon Danny get THAT on the poll. Do it! Do it! You haven't got the balls!

Goodtimes.

Could someone elaborate on the Neighborhoodies hate? I'm curious to hear more. Something didn't seem right about them -- especially when they started expanding into suburban malls in Cincinnati, for instance, but I'd like to know what's up with the corporate culture there.

Meanwhile, it's a ridiculous idea, but it's working out well. If you're going to leave the city, Fort Collins is a beautiful, charming little city, a stone's throw from the Front Range of the Rockies. Lucky devils.

Have you ever heard of urban storytelling? There’s this group in NYC called the Moth, and they put on storytelling events there. Right now, they’ve teamed up with the TV network TNT (we know drama) for some reason, and are doing a contest on Myspace called “What’s Your Story?”. Basically, you submit a video of yourself telling the story of the most risky thing you’ve ever done, and you can win a trip to New York and other cool stuff. It’s actually really interesting and I strongly suggest everyone check it out: www.myspace.com/mothstories . They show a few videos on the myspace page that are worth watching if you’re confused by what they do… It will be interesting to see the different video submissions of people telling their risky stories.

What is in Fort Collins TX?? I don't get it...

Wow, came back from lunch to see that you all have really ripped Danny and Nina a new one. Good job, guys. I felt sort of guilty after my intitial comment, (# 3) but now I see that there are many people equally annoyed by the sugary cutesy-ness permeating that whole site and "concept". It never dawned on me that they would be increasing hits/making money on the site by this idea. I'm a little slow sometimes. But thankfully I'm not nearly as cutsey or irritating as they are. In or out of coupledom. Bleech.
And yes, I have bucketloads of work to do and have no idea why I feel compelled to slag these people.

Drama Queen takes this opportunity to randomly promote something she's involved with...

Where do they live now? We better vote for that, or else we'll have to suffer through all the publicity for the book they will write about their year in wherever.

With such self-consciuous, purposeful navel-gazing and trying-to-be-cute-crap do you really think they will let random people pick where they move? This is to make money for their move by increasing traffic to their site. Rest assured they have probably already put a down payment on the apt. above the coffee shop (w/wi-fi) in the place that has the best public school system. I bet they will name their kid Dania. They are giggling to themselves and patting themselves on the back for being clever. I am quietly vomiting to myself into a bucket at work.

I'm going to start a "Name My Baby" contest. Next week, y'all stop by my blog and name my baby. After it's born, I'll post pictures of it on my blog and post them on Flickr. I might even add in some bathtub shots!

Now, the only thing I have to do is get pregnant.

Sorry, my above comment was uncalled for.

I voted. I haven't ever heard of their Web site before, but I sent them somewhere quite nice. Granted, only four of us voted for that town, but still...

Definately Worcester, MA. It's terrible.

My first comment was actually # 2, in case anyone is actually still paying attention to this thread...

mihow - don't apologize. Brad and Nina, or whatever theirs names are, have reached new heights of douchebaggery.

"hey robin, why don't you help me shove that thing further up my ass"

It seems to be so far in that it's coming out of your mouth already.

All of the people who have voted on their site, yet won't vote in real life in New York elections, should also move away from New York.

danny and nina, as two people who have created taken a cute simple idea and developed it into something real, you should know that you've already done more in thatone site than all of those losers who were bashing above. truly. only one of them linked out, and that was a boring anonymous blog. whatever. rest assured it epitomizes what it is to be a loser to spend your free time bashing a cool idea. (you'll notice that the successful people you meet don't have time for negativity.) I hope you make enough money from advertising to pay for your trip, and think Portland!
