um no, dont bring out of town guests. chinatown is not a zoo, and chinese people are not animals to be gawked at. you're lucky we even let you come into the neighborhood without being stabbed in the eye.
I board the Manhattan-bound R train in the morning
and it is often filled with men and women going to work in Chinatown-Manhattan from Chinatown-Brooklyn. Many bring full, steaming cups of coffee on the train, along with various interesting pastries. It seems common practice for them to dip their pastries in the coffee (and to slurp the coffee loudly). Don't recall seeing any pastries with meat inside: they usually appear to be sweet buns, often with a custardy filling.
carbs, sugars, and fat. eh, it's basic enough, but i usually crash if these pastries are all i have in the morning. they're better as snacks. those hotdog buns are pretty good though.
Wienies for breakfast? Isn't that what sausages are?
If you've never witnessed the Tai Chi in Sarah D, I highly recommend bringing your out-of-town guests...there may be swords!
Say hi to the park manager in the brown shirt. He's a nice guy...

i love the buns with the shredded coconut inside.
hmm. that sounds dirty.

So what is this pastry called again? I would like to know.
i call it four-piece hot dog bao. good stuff.
definitely bring out-of-town guests. it's public property and anybody can go.
Those are awesome. Korean bakeries have something similar which is pretty badass too.

#3,
Yeah, don't watch the Tai Chi practitioners -- the last thing they want is free publicity and an appreciative, admiring audience.
I know, it's hard when you're not the one getting all the attention.
Annoyingass? Is that you?
