Last Night's Action: The Ice Report

2006_10_srangerslogo.gif-Rangers 4 Devils 2: Maybe all the Rangers’ defense needed was the return of Darius Kasparaitis. Benched since the start of the season for conditioning issues, Darius was put back into the lineup on his 34th birthday and played a solid game in the New York victory.

Brendan Shanahan continued his hot start with a goal and made several nice defensive plays. Henrik Lundqvist faced 36 shots and made several nice saves. The win brings the Rangers into a tie with New Jersey for first place.

-Nashville 2 Islanders 1 (shootout): With their 15-year man out, the Islanders have been forced to turn to former Ranger and Devil, Mike Dunham, in goal and he had responded with wins against Anaheim and Boston. Monday he played brilliantly again, stopping 32 of 33 shots in regulation before allowing the first two shooters in the shootout to score. Steve Sullivan was the offensive hero, scoring in both regulation and the shootout for Nashville which heads to the Garden for a matchup with the Rangers Wednesday night.

ugh - a $67 M backup goalie! I know he's injured, but still....he's played horribly so far.

I love the hockey coverage -- it's a nice addition to the football nonsense that predominates fall sports conversation.

keep it up! i look forward to seeing more in the future.

Hockey season started?
I used to care at one time, but then the labour problems ruined things.
Still it is better than the illegal wagering game, I mean football.

I, too, love the hockey coverage! Keep it up!

Toby, this is the second time you've posted about not caring about hockey.

It seems that you do actually care somewhat, no?
