Not for nuthin' but Tien is one of the bigger Yankee haters around. It's a testament to his endless charm and Yankee fans boundless capacity for forgiveness that we can still be friendly with him.

And not for nothing, but five runs over five and 2/3 isn't really anything to write home about. Not as bad as Perez has been, granted, but it was a battle of bats and bullpens, which is the Mets turf. You'll always look good giving up five when the other team gives up twelve.

Perez was alright. He shouldn't have been relying SO much on his fastball in the 5th and 6th, since the slow stuff he had on point was hurting the Cards more. Each HR in the 5th and 6th were fastballs in the end.

Oliver Perez didn't do well? He lasted more innings than Trachsel, giving up only one run in the time it took him to give up 5. Sure, it wasn't the game an El Duque or a Pedro would have deliveried if they were healthy, but Perez needed to step up and I think he did a good job of it. If it was Shea, the audience would have stood when he walked off the field in the 5th.

the mets wouldn't have had a chance to win if their pitching stunk as bad as the cards did last night.

mets in six.
