(Don't know about you, But if that person makes another sandwich that I have to eat again while yapping away on her phone again I'm taking your pic and sending it to the company headquarters)These dopes have no idea what the hell is going on around them out in the street . Pay attention People !

I remember what pedestrians were like BCP (before cell phones) and weep with longing. It makes me question people who say that driving while on a cellphone isn't dangerous; people walking can't even pay attention to their surroundings when on a phone.

I work overlooking the site of the first accident. It actually happened in the uptown lane of Broadway - even closer to the second accident. It was awful to see the gawkers abandon the first scene for the second.

I'm a firm believe in pedestrians having the right of way no matter what, but I will say that people talking on cellphones are sometimes frighteningly oblivious to their surroundings and do simply expect that everybody's looking out for them. In the past week or so, I've had to yell to at least two people to look out who were about to cross the street against the light as cars were speeding towards the intersection. Do these people have near death experiences daily, or what? How do they survive? Can making plans for later that night really be that important?

Whether a driver or a pedestrian, you always need to be on the defensive. The sad thing is, sometimes people just don't pay attention.

And for what it's worth, that stretch of Amsterdam, from about 60-some to the 80's can get really fast, with traffic barreling up because it's a straight shot.

Despite my hatred for large tractor trailers, jaywalkers on cellphones are bigger hazards!
