Monk parrots build huge communal stick nests so it would be fairly easy to sneak up on a nest late at night and then capture a large group. But these are still wild birds and as such aren't especially good pet material themselves. I was told that the wild parrots being captured are sold to rogue pet stores who breed them in cramped cages in their dank basements. (No doubt many of them don't survive these terrible conditions.) Be suspicious of any pet store--especially in Brooklyn--that has an unusually large number of Monk parrots for sale.

you are not alone fishtale... i will quote my own response to the video from curbed. because im lazy. this is useless.. when he's describing his apartment's front door.. he's like "all you have to do is turn this and open" he gave directions on unlocking and opening a door from the inside then he goes to his building's front door, and when demonstrating how the door doesn't click locked by itself, IT CLICKS LOCKED. so then he PUT HIS KEY IN, OPENS THE DOOR and says "if you can get past this door you can break into any apartment in the building" um.. no? then when he's talking about breaking in through windows, he shows "weak little locks" on the windows, but he never actually shows how you could break in. when he demonstratees how easy it is to open the window, he unlocks the window! of course a crowbar could do it, but who needs a video to tell them that crowbars break glass? this is stupid.. i hope you posted this purely for the Borat effect.

not sure how that was terrifying. i couldn't even tell what was happening when he opened the door. seems like it was locked but he just pulled it open anyway? so it's supposed to be terrifying that someone had a lock on their door that was actually locking? seriously, not to drop the outta towner card here, but if anyone is shocked by this video or that people can get into your apartment from fire escapes or rooftops, you are either a complete idiot-- or an outta towner. the city will never be safe in this way! please accept that
