Nic and all the others that don't think was an upset: It was indeed an upset and one of the biggest. The yanks owned the Tigers in the regular season with a 5-2 record and that was when the Yanks were not at full strength. What lost this series was the Yanks egos. After rolling in game 1 they expected the Tigers to roll over which they didn't. Kudos to the Tigers.

Time to start anew. Get rid of Torre, Mazzilli, Mr. Steroids and everyone else. The Tigers had been on top of their division since Spring. They derserve the win as much as I hate Pudge Rodriguez. Their manager definately deserved this win.

upset? the tigers' win is not much of a shock at all, really. who would start jaret wright in an elimination game except a team that's completely screwed for pitching? it's not like the bullpen would right any damage that wright made, either -- aside from the not-as-durable rivera, the yankees' relief corps is pretty damn thin.

My congratulations go out to the Detroit Tigers, they earned it. The NY Yankees as microcosm of American leadership: Bloated, over-the-hill, unimaginative,soulless,money hungry, using old strategies to tackle new problems. Gone: Torre, Arod, Sheffield, Mussina(unless he takes 2 yrs for a lot less $$$), Wright I was born and raised in the Bronx, but at 45 yrs old I know that sports is SUPPOSED to be entertainment, so unless the Yanks get rid of those listed above and get exciting again, I won't give my valuable time to watching them. Good luck Mets, you guys got the juice now in NYC!

Who in their right minds would have thought the Yankees would dominate this series? The Tigers dominated the regular season until a series of cruicial injuries slowed them down and now that the team's back to full strength -- it only made sense they'd take down the Bronx Bombers. But as someone who just got back from an absolutely overjoyed crowd in Comerica Park in Detwa -- let's just say we're happy to have had the opportunity to prove to the world the cats are a world-class and world-series-class team. ;)

I'm not one of those Mets fans who despises the Yankees (In fact I favor the Yankees when they aren't playing the Mets) so, I believe it's time for the Yanks to change their approach. Waiting for Dr. Longball isn't the way to go in the postseason, though the Tigers used it to great effect today. Year after year the Yankees lose to hungrier teams. It might be time to get away from signing every available All-Star and get guys who want to win more than the other teams. www.forgotten-ny.com

For the love of Ruth, bring back Soriano! Trading Soriano (Yankee bred) for Rodriguez wasa horrible mistake. I also think that Torre may not deserve his vaunted "great manager" status. A team like that had to perform better. It reminds me of 2004, Schilling had a bad ankle and it would not have been unsportsmanlike to bunt a few times. Torre never tells his "putrid offense" to bunt. They don't seem to manufacture runs, grinding them out. They all want to hit dingers.
