Whoa! I actually have the blue book in the picture -- it's called Menus for Entertaining. Menus (with recipes) for all kinds of things from 'Card Party for Men' and 'Card Party for Women' to 'Christmas Eve Open House for One Hundred Guests.' It's fun because just the way it's written gives us a glimpse of life in a whole other time (50's suburbia). I thought I had about the last copy.

As a former bookseller, I'm dismayed at the idea of using a perfectly good book as a shelf. It's bad enough that fewer and fewer people are actually reading them these days, now we're consigning them to decor? Oy! At least do what Hollywood does---those "libraries" in homes on TV are all false fronts with colorful spines. Get really creative and make some faux books into shelves instead. And go buy a real book right now and read it!

The Invisible Shelf can do the same thing without destroying a book. And it is a comparable price (18 Euro) to the low end. I haven't ordered one yet, but I'm tempted. http://tinyurl.com/fh88a
