Airport Hoaxer Found

Aha! Authorities have found the person who planted a "suspcious" duffel bag at JFK Airport Thursday night that a bomb squad had to use the water cannon on. The AP reports that Vermont resident Peter Gonick was "accused of reckless endangerment and putting a fake bomb at a transportation facility." And know how he was found? His car was near where the bag was placed in the parking lot. Hmm, we wonder if the bomb sniffing dogs figured out the bag smelled like a nearby car. Or if the duffel bag had a tag with Gonick's name on it. The 55 year old allegedly put a powdery (nonhazardous) material in it as well as a note. One of our readers who had to deal with the suspicious-bag delays said he overheard a TSA person say the note read, "Fuck the FBI."

Fuck the FBI. hahahhahahha

Do all our crazies (lately) come out of Vermont? Or am I just remembering incorrectly? Where was that guy from who drove the car full of guns all the way to the White House and drove it onto the lawn?

Peter Gonick congrats you have just won first prize for the biggest loser!

I guess this answers my question about did Gothamist get a proofreader.

That would be susp-I-cious, I'm guessing.

If he was a non-white, he would have been charged with committing a terrorist activity or something else under the Patriot Act.

Peter is schizophrenic - not as a demeaning label but as a mentally ill man. Not everything makes it into the news...and it can be wrong to make judgments on people based on just what is found there.

Mental illness sometimes is only a relative...or a friend...or a coworker away.
