"Suspicious" Duffel Bag Cause JFK Panic

2006_09_duffelbag.jpgLast night, WCBS 2 proclaimed it had a breaking news exclusive: Some suspicious, unattended bags in a JFK parking lot had forced the shutdown of a parking lot and rerouting of traffic (no easy thing near JFK Airport), not to mention delaying various flights. And the water cannon was brought in to see what was in the bags, reportedly finding that there was a white powdery substance AND a suspicious, threatening note! Luckily, hours later, it was determined the powder was not dangerous (flour, perhaps?). While we're curious about the note (it supposedly contained profanities), we imagine the police are attempting to look for the person who planted it - our favorite idiot who called a bomb scare was a girl who wanted to prevent her boyfriend from flying to another city and confronting one of her exes.

this was the worst last night. i arrived at the airline check in at 9pm for my 7.55pm flight because of this madness.

they blew up the bag. at least i heard something blow up. and a TSA person came into the terminal i was at and told the airline reps that the note said "f-ck the fbi."

classic. what i loved the most is that NO ONE knew what was going on. it was chaos. people walking around everywhere.

the city/port authority/whoever hasn't fixed any communication problems they had pre-9/11...cause they were all present last night.
