Now Friday night and weekend planning necessitating trips across the East River can start again! The MTA says that most of the work on the L line that has been completed and that construction will be "winding down." It's been about a year since the MTA's announcement about disruptions to the line, when the MTA said construction would shut down the line at least seven times. According to amNew York:
- The MTA had been installing the robotrain/OPTO technology along the line.Oh, and the real-time information boards the MTA said were coming this July? They'll be installed in the next few weeks/months.
- Because the L line ridership has been growing, the MTA will also be phasing in some new train cars. Actually, they are old train models, which required that the tunnels be retrofitted for the technology.
- However, there will be some service disruptions in the evenings and on one weekend, plus the Myrtle/Wyckoff station work is ongoing.

I wonder if the robotrain/OPTO technology operates on CP time.
How's about that express service on the West Side on the weekends? Giving us that back would be awfully nice of the MTA.
So is it "robotrain" and OPTO or "robotrain" and OPTO, make up your minds people. They're not the same thing. If you use the OPTO (one person train operation) abbreviation you might as well use the CBTC (command based train control) abbreviation.
As a Manhattanite, I can't wait for the Billyburg hipsters to join up with the B&T crowd to make weekends in Manhattan absolutely unbearable! Time to start planning those long weekends out of the island.
You're such an idiot, DUDE.
Will the trains be equipped with IPod chargers and extra seating for dogs?
It would be like, totally sweet if Foofoo had a seat too.
Now I can take Foo Foo to the Dog Runs in the city from Brooklyn with ease.
You missed the kicker at the end:
- The TA is waiting for the delivery of 660 new R-160 cars. Some will be deployed to the L line at the end of 2007, when the weekend and evening service disruptions are expected to continue again when all the old signals are finally removed for good.
People seem to forget that there are several neighborhoods past Wburg that also use the L train. We may not be quite as hip, but we need to commute, too.
Screw the L train. Fix the god damned G train.
#5 - I kid..I love the hippies!
#4 and #5 are BOTH idiots. Williamsburg kids live there because their proximity to Manhattan. Anyone knows the whole god-fucking-damn neighborhood would pick up and move into the city if East Village apartment rents and sizes were equivalent. And Manhattanites who constantly complain about "B & T" ironically act just like the people they complain about.
You both are idiots.
Why do the hipsters wear those funny looking glasses?
I'd say the stopping at midnight ish is almost equally annoying, and they say that will continue. Bah.
anyone who calls Williamsburg "billyburg" should go to hell.
These comments suck.
DUDE- go make a reservation at Chez Pierre, douchie McDouchistan and please stay above 14th st...
