Playing the other (or only) New York team

After hanging on in Week 1 to down the Titans and rallying to make the Patriots sweat -- a little -- in a Week 2 loss, the Jets travel to Buffalo for a Week 3 matchup. The Bills have played New England tough and also scored a convinving win over Miami. Both games were on the road, but neither result included an encouraging performance from Bills quarterback J.P. Losman, but the Bills' defense has been capable of making opponents' quarterbacks uneasy.

Quarterback Chad Pennington has been the Jets' biggest story over the past two weeks. Yes, he looked impressive in their Week 1 victory, but his Week 2 statline would have looked worse if not for two remarkable plays, one by Jerricho Cotchery and the other by Laveranues Coles. Both plays included remarkable runs after the catch created solely by the receivers -- and sloppy tackling. Coles is uncertain with what the AP calls "an unspecified calf injury." His health is critical to Pennington and the entire Jets offense. Since it has no ground game, the team will count on the two wideouts to make plays similar to the ones they made against New England.

For the Jets to win, they must force Losman into mistakes and contain running back Willis McGahee, who's averaged only 3.6 yards per carry this year. Both goals are realistic, but winning on the road in the NFL isn't easy, and few things come easy for the Jets.
