Bruni no-stars Freemans: doesn't much like the food, though he does like the decor. He compares it unfavorably to The Spotted Pig, and says, "Most of its dishes... could be quickly and easily replicated at home."
In case you missed Gothamist's link to it yesterday, Eater has a fascinating diary by William Tigertt, co-owner of Freemans, revealing the review process from the restaurant's side. It starts from the date in August that they first spotted Bruni dining there.
Peter Meehan visits Restaurant Forte Baden Baden, a Koreatown hof where beer is the drink of choice. He loves the deep-fried rotisserie chicken and the pig's feet, which are sliced and served with vegetables and which Meehan finds "a compelling and unusual presentation."
In the Post, Cuozzo likes new Tapas restaurant Boqueria. Says, "It makes 'Spanish' taste as new and fresh as the country's cuisine can be on its home ground, but rarely turns out in the New York translation."
And Nancy Davidson has a piece on the wild game menu at Restaurant Orsay: you must order your entree a week in advance, so--get this--hunters in Scotland can shoot it for you. "You effectively put out a contract on your own meal," she says.
