Tickle Me Elmo T.M.X. is Bananas!

2006_09_tmxelmo.jpg

If you tuned into Good Morning America this morning, you may have noticed Diane Sawyer extracting something from a safe. And, yes, that red and furry object was the new Tickle Me Elmo T.M.X. - T.M.X. for Tickle Me eXtreme. Not only the the doll talk in the third person and giggle, Elmo basically has a crazy laughing fit - slapping his knee, falling on his back and convulsing, getting back up, falling on his side, rolling to his front, slapping the floor, getting back up. Forget getting this for kids - this is totally what we're getting everyone for their birthdays. Or we're just going to buy a lot and sell them on eBay, most likely at a loss.

Watch the clip on ABC News. There's something hilarious about Diane Sawyer getting excited about TMX Elmo - and her pointing to a "line outside the Times Square Toys R Us" when camera cuts to the store and there are maybe only five people.

it was pretty funny, watching that elmo go on and on. i'm pretty sure it would get annoying after the 2nd time or so.

Do you think GMA would have run this if Elmo wasn't also owned by Disney?

No, ABC would never shill for Di$ney, just like NBC would never shill for Universal.

that thing is totally going to induce seizures in kids

also - what's that creepy dude in the black polo shirt in the corner up to? i don't like the way he's holding elmo. i don't like it at all.

Elmo seems to be his "special" friend.

My one year old got excited just from watching the tv clips (we tivo'd the one from The View). So, will I buy one? Um, no. We have already taken the batteries out of 'Check-up Elmo'. I couldn't stand to listen to it all day.

In other news - FUCK YOU ABC and your corporate drivel shilling lickspittles.

This is a news program? You wonder why we're doomed? THIS IS WHY.

Aye! What strange beast be this?!? Me thinks it be some form of red assgoblin from the seas, me maties!!! ARRRR! WATCH YE AFT!!!

:D hahahah..cute!

beware of robots...

These are awesome! Has anyone seen the prices of these guys on ebay? Some went for over $100 and a few over $200!

Disney may own ABC, but it does not own Elmo. Elmo (and other Sesame Street Muppet characters) are owned by Sesame Workshop.

The prices on ebay are falling to between $50 - $90 and will only continue to fall as the second wave of TMX hits the stores (my local wal-mart got 90 last night, and still have over half left this morning).

Anyone buying them to sell on ebay at this late stage will just end up selling them at a loss.

Has anyone able to get an Elmo TMX yet? Some of you may have kids who are begging for it. I found mine at a department store but they are all sold out now. Here's a site that still has some Tickle Me Elmo's left. Amazing, but get them before they're gone.

The Christmas chaos has begun. I heard a new story about fights erupting over the Elmo TMX. I found a Elmo Finder website at Tickle Me Elmo Finder that's one site sure to be useless in a year.

someone also used gun to rob other's elmo. http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/view.php?StoryID=20060925-124617-6218r

I don't understand what the big deal about this Elmo is. I think it's rather ridiculous to jump into a frantic about a DOLL. It'll be there next year and what not. But half the articles i've read, and what i've seen on the news, you elmo fanatics really need to calm down about these ignorant things. I mean, paying so much as 500 dollars for a doll that will end up being destroyed by the child(ren)? Seriously everyone, THINK about it. You are paying all that money, for a toy for your child(ren), and give it at the most of 6 months, that thing will be old news, and destroyed.
