"Roccer" Mom Kills Daughter's Friend in DWI

2006_09_continental.jpgYorktown resident Ann Marie Ciarcia was charged with DWI after a car crash on Monday morning that left her daughter's friend dead. Ciarcia and her 15 year old daughter Alexa had attended a show at the Continental Club in the East Village Sunday night. They ran into Alexa's friend, Emily Cornish (who had been at the Save Darfur rally earlier in the day) and gave Cornish a ride back to Yorktown with them. Ciarcia was driving north on a southbound lane on the Saw MIll River Parkway when she hit another car. Cornish, sitting in the back without a seatbelt on, was killed, while Ciarcia and Alexa - wearing seatbelts - were injured.

The Post says Ciarcia has a MySpace account (she does) and that the police are investigating it:

On it, Ciarcia says her occupation is, "Roccer Mom" who is "just an old fangirl rediscovering my punk rock roots after being bored in the burbs for years."

Ciarcia posted photos of herself and several young teens at Ramones concerts and at protests over the closing of the Lower East Side punk bastion CBGB.

The caption on a photo of Ciarcia and three girls standing in front of a wall of graffiti reads, "Just another hard night entertaining the kids."

A friend of Alexa, who was visiting her in the hospital, told the Post, "She can't help it if her mother's an idiot."

Her favorite move is Crash. Lol.

Anyway, that girl should have been wearing a seatbelt.

Well, the mom shouldn't have been driving drunk.

Why would a 46 year old woman have a MySpace account? Isn't she about two decades too old for that?

This is the second death of a Yorktown teen in this past week. Another one was stabbed to death by the girl she was paid to beat up a few days ago.

why would the police need to investigate her myspace page? Or is that just a synergistic News Corp. plug?

Who wears a seatbelt in the backseat? People should but unfortunately they usually don't. I lay the blame on the moron rocker mom 100%.

Also #1 your lame attempt at humor is pathetic.

MYspace must be a jinx. Appears lots of people who died had a myspace account. Even middle aged moms.
Ah, the Internet.

Sounds like this mom was trying to relive her teenage years by hanging out with kids. Or trying to emulate the women on "Desperate Housewives". If you are an aged housewife, please stay an aged housewife. No one thinks a 46 year old 'rocker' with a My Space account who drives while intoxicated is cute.

My condolences to the family that lost a child because of this woman's idiotic actions.

I forgot to add there were lots of these parents at the free NY Dolls show.
Moms with black toenail polish and dads with that rat tail they don't want to cut off.
Then they head off to their million plus dollar home in the burbs with their bratty kid.

Sounds like the mom is just nuts. And this girl paid the price.

Yeah, she should have been wearing the seatbelt. But the mother should have been sober.

Throw her ass in jail... that'll help her street cred.

"Ciarcia was driving north on a southbound lane on the Saw MIll River Parkway "

What a tragedy. Call her stupid or mock her efforts to regain her youth via punk and MySpace, but the bottom line is she was driving impaired.
There is no other explanation for driving in the wrong lane. The Saw Mill River Parkway is a divided highway, so it wasn't a matter of her drifting into the wrong lane because of sleeepiness or alcohol. She chose to enter the highway in the wrong direction and killed her daughter's friend as a result.

jesus, how did she get all the way to the saw mill from downtown if she was so impaired she entered the wrong way of the highway? it would have been far more punk to take the train anyway

never mind...upon reading the article i see this happened at 5am, so she was obviously tired as well. really sad. the thing that stands out in my mind is that the kids were out until 5 on a school night. during my high school years i had to BEG my parents to let me go out to a couple big shows that were on school nights. and even then they would have killed me if i didn't come home by like 1 or 2. anything else was out of the question, that's the way it should be

Totally agree with Tim. Anyone who not only drives drunk of her ass, but does so with two kids in the car should be in jail.

What could she have possibly been thinking?

yeah, i don't really get what they were investigating on myspace.

So you see kids, why it's so important to stay in school, so you too can use all your talents raising your own and everyone else's kids here in suburbia, while clubbing in Manhattan at night and wasting your days on myspace...(just kidding...) If you truly hate your life in Yucktown, the only way out is SCHOOL!!! SO GET OFF MYSPACE AND START THAT SUMMER READING!!!!!!!!!!!

Punk rock, soccer mom, rich suburbanite, myspace, she ate cornflakes for breakfast... all details that mean nothing. Drunk/tired driving is the problem here, and people of all classes and ages are guilty of it.

OK it is one thing to call home and say, "I ran into so 'n'so and her mom will bring me home." But then, why didn't the parent(s) place a time constraint to insure she'd be home by a certain time or direct her to take the train home?? I am curious to know why the victim's parent(s)did not do anything to insure that their daughter got home at a reasonable hour, school night or no school night,

Yeah she definately made a mistake, and I'm not justifying what she did. She definately should have been more of a parent and should not have been drinking and driving. However, your all judging her and you don't know her. The media always blows things up and makes them 10x worse. People make mistakes and with all the press saying what their saying, how do you think those kids of the "RoccerMom" are handling this?? Do you know how hard this is going to be to begin with. And to make things even worse they have to read all the news and what the media writes.

"A friend of Alexa, who was visiting her in the hospital, told the Post, "She can't help it if her mother's an idiot.""

i must ask... what were your sources for that statement? because i know that none of my friends would ever say anything like that.

""A friend of Alexa, who was visiting her in the hospital, told the Post, "She can't help it if her mother's an idiot."""

let me tell you something.

none of the friends who visited Alexa in the hospital even TALKED to a newspaper let alone say THAT.

i know since i was one of them and after seeing this asked EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THE OTHERS

they never talked to ANY newspaper

YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF FOR MISREPORTING.

and let me tell you a little something about the post.

the post repeatively called the hospital room of Alexa Ciarcia and pretended to be her family members (specifically her aunt)in order to get an interview.

this kind of thing is disgusting.

Proof that white trash isn't simply an economic decription.

Wonder if she and her daughter have matching tattoos? Maybe she likes to flash her boobs at her daughter's teenage boyfriend?

Grow up and be a parent already.
