- Look for Grub Street, the just launched New York Magazine food blog, to have an interview with newly anointed NYT Dining editor Pete Wells on Wednesday.
- An amusing read from the LA Times about “the Chicken that Killed Grandpa”.
- Random Menupages.com restaurant of the day - Luzia's, Portuguese/Spanish on the UWS. Is it any good? You tell us.
- File under an offer you cannot refuse. After the preview party for Lonesome Dove NY (more on this event tomorrow) an invitation to Rego Park was offered to Gothamist. What could possibly be going on in Rego Park at 10pm you ask to warrant a “yes please” ? Seems Robbie Richter and a cadre of friends – Joey Deckle, Barry and a player to be named later – were smoking 250 of brisket streetside in giant wheeled smokers. Turns out these briskets, marinated in Malaysian flavors and sourced from some top secret meat purveyor, were destined to be part of Zak Pelaccio’s dish at a StarChefs party (part of the StarChefs.com International Chefs Congress) at Crobar Wednesday night. Some photos are below and here is some linkage (via Ganda) for this same BBQ crew working last week.

Yum, smoked brisket. I'm clearly running with the wrong crowd.
How does anyone cook anything in this city with The Hungry Cabbie eating it first?
Ooh! Too bad I moved out of the Forest Hills/Rego Park area... but yumm, brisket!!
Yay, more barbecue! I missed this one, but helped Rob cook for BBQ-NYC and a little at meatopia, and it is absolutely the best 'que in the boroughs, if not the whole tri-state area.
