With all of this advance buzz coming from the Toronto Film Festival about Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, it's going to be tough to wait until November for Sacha Baron Cohen's movie to hit theaters. Fortunately, MySpace's Black Carpet Screening series feels the Borat pain and have organized free advance screenings on Sept. 20th of the flick all over the country. To get in on the good stuff, add them as a friend and keep an eye on your bulletin board for further details.
Also for some choice Friday procrastination, Borat's official website and MySpace page are each completely hilarious. Of course, they look like the worst web designer of all time made them and Borat writes, among other things, that one of his sons' is named '"Hooeylewis." How can you not completely love that?

kazakhstan is none too happy about the film, and that it was a topic of discussion between nursultan nazarbayev & george bush during bush's visit.
i have seen the skits before, but when i saw the trailer in the theater a few months back, i was embarrassed, even appalled.
apparently kazakhstan is going to spend money on a PR (more like damage-control) campaign to project a more realistic image of their country.
any more details on this?
I think most people are missing the joke of the Borat character. It's about undermining western opinions and feelings of Eastern European. The character succeeds in tricking others because they have this pretty racist idea of what Eastern Europeans are like and they don't attempt to question the Borat character.
i love borat. he gets people to really admit how ignorant and racist they are by pretending to be the same. anyone who doesn't get it is well... dumb!
not only that, by protesting it they just ensured this will be a huge box office hit. dumb!
My boyfriend is a so-called "foreigner" and people here often treat him like he is stupid. Whenever he explains where is from, people have no idea where it is on a map (it's a major country) and even less idea what langauge they speak there.
So, it is refreshing to see the "dumb foreigner" making a fool out of the "Smart American".

Isn't the real point of Borat use to supposed ignorance and stupidity of a foreigner to point out the actual ignorance and stupidity of some Americans? He sang "Throw the Jew Down the Well" in one skit not because he's trying to show how anti-Semitic someone from KZ is, but how, under the right conditions, racist attitudes flourish right here in the USA.
Borat's hilarious, people need to lighten up.

i'm not sure the majority of americans aren't critical enough to understand the character or the intent. perhaps president nazarbayev also is missing the point, or maybe he is concerned americans will believe anything hollywood feeds them. not to fault the artist, but there are going to be people who see the movie, have their laughs, and go home believing it. maybe they also believe the price of gas someday will go down, we'll find those WMDs, and that global warming is a total farce.
it is not borat who looks like an idiot in the show, it is the dumb-ass americans. anyone with half a brain can figure it out. if anything, it exposes the racist, moronic culture in america. that's it.

I never sheerish anything which organising with American media things whatever they do in this word.I think the country who have the Criminal to be thier President it have very bad vision for all people in the word ! .....It like one died bird in the same cage with other birds in all stink .....so if just the bad one president why anything should make other feel good ? The American films always treating people impolite way such as the way they talks .I feel stink of some movie that they speak "Fucking" in every 5 minutes or 10 minutes.May be it will be thier Culture! .....what i should respect in this way the American films they do >>>>.
