Last Night's Action: Return to Health?

2006_04_syankeeslogo.jpg-Yankees 12, Devil Rays 4: For eight innings, the margin of victory would have been more than the Yanks' magic number, which dropped to nine with the win. Hideki Matsui returned, went 4-for-4 with a walk and Mike Mussina pitched effectively. Both develepments should make Yankees fans smile. Some might have tuned out though, since Bobby Abreu knocked in six runs during a nine-run Yankees first inning.

-Mets 6, Marlins 4: The Mets staged a come from behind victory in a game that was delayed for a total of 2:08. Carlos Delgado tied the game at 4 with a three-run homer in the 8th and Cliff Floyd had the game winning RBI later in the inning. With the win, the Mets magic number is now three games.

-SI Yanks 4, Tri-City ValleyCats 2: Staten Island won the opener of the two-of-three series on Tuesday. Kyle Larsen scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. Game 2 is on Wednesday, and Game 3, if necessary, will be played on Thursday. Both are set to be played on Staten Island.

You sure the Marlins won 4-1, or did you just stop watching after the 7th inning? Top notch reporting.

  • um, the Mets won 6-4 last night as opposed to the 4-1 loss you show above...

  • I bought a t-shirt today from an online boutique. It reads, "Jesus Hates the Yankees." I'm now becoming interested in religion.
