Pencil This In

THEATER: A mysterious production is in previews at the DR2 theatre near Union Square. Dubbed “Esoterica”, it is described as a multi-media exploration of matters “philosophical, metaphysical and arcane” by actor, magician and mentalist Eric Walton. On his website, www.ericwalton.com, this description piqued our interest further: “Walton is sort of what you'd guess the devil would be like if he had his own nightclub act." It could be we’re just curious about what a “mentalist” does for ninety minutes or we’re already falling under his spell. But something tells us you’ll love it, that it’s much better than “Cats” and that you’re going to see it again and again. - John Del Signore

Mon, Tues, Thurs at 8, Fri and Sat at 7 and 10, and Sun at 7DR2 Theater [103 E 15th St] // $35

EVENT: The LVHRDers are strappin' their dancing shoes on again tonight, with DNCHRD: Battle of the Moves 2. For this one they ask that you dress as your favorite dance move. Since we're in New York we're guessing there will be a lot of you dressed as "standing disaffectedly while tapping your foot". Oh, zing! No? Okay, prove us wrong...

In the meantime, watch last years Battle for Champion of the Dance.

8pm // Since LVHRD is all about secrets, we have no idea where this event is...sign up to get details later via text

2006_09_arts_partygirl.jpgMOVIE: Union Hall, stop it, seriously, you are already too awesome. Stop making us love you even more. Tonight at the venue that makes us want to move to Park Slope, The L Magazine hosts their SummerScreen movie series, showing Party Girl! Parker Posey, the Dewey Decimal System and a romance with a falafal vendor...what more could you ask for? There will also be drink specials and deejays.

8pm // Union Hall [702 Union St, Brooklyn] // Free

MUSIC: We've been out of touch with The Dears for quite some time now, we weren't really in to their Morrissey worship at Mercury Lounge in January '05. Tonight they take the Bowery Ballroom stage with The Grates. If you go, be sure to get their for The Grates.

8pm // Bowery Ballroom // $17

And of course, don't forget to show The Rapture some love...

Union Hall is the most fun you'll find in NYC. I've been there 5 times since it opened, and I live an inconvenient distance away [SunnysideQNS]. If you haven't been, do youreself a favor and check it out! Just watch out for the Bocce Bullies...

Union Hall rules, that's true. But does anyone know if the movie is going to be muted with subtitles like Mean Streets was last week at Fontana's? If so, that L Magazine SummerScreen series sucks.

don't forget to show the rapture the entrance to the "never that good in the first place" hall of fame.

"He- He- Hello!" Party Girl had me in love with Parker Posey for about a decade.

Esoterica is amazing- You will definitely have your mind blown. He is brilliant.
