Watch Where You Walk Even While You're Weeping

2006_09_73amst.jpgA bad accident on the Upper West Side: A woman who had been sitting on the curb crying after a fight with her boyfriend was hit by a car when she walked into the street. A police source told the Daily News, "She had a verbal altercation with her boyfriend, got p----- off at him and she just stepped in front of a car. She was high-stepping it. She was walking fast." Her boyfriend did try to comfort her right after she was hit. The woman, who is in her 20s, was described by witnesses and police as being "visibly intoxicated" and is currently in critical condition at a hospital.

The police did not charge the driver who said, "She just jumped out in front of me and I hit her."

The major contributing factor was more likely that she was sitting in front of the P&G bar on 73rd and Amsterdam, which she more than likely had just stormed out of if she was visibly intoxicated.

How fast was the driver going? Maybe speed was a major contributing factor.
