PARTY: FreeNYC holds their Bugjuice party again at Luke & Leroy's (which has managed to stay open post-Misshapes!) If you like reggae, funk, soul, hip hop and $3 vodka drinks...this is the place for you.

Friday // 10pm // Luke and Leroy's [21 7th Ave South at Leroy] // Free

FILM: Rooftop Films presents Dark Toons. Brendan Canty has not sat idly by during Fugazi’s break. He recently produced a new album by the Thermals, composed the soundtrack to D.C. reality show “The Hill”, and released the latest “Burn to Shine” DVD (www.trixiedvd.com) featuring Sleater Kinney, The Shins and Decemberists, among others. Saturday night he’ll join Jim Becker (Califone) and Jerry Busher (French Toast) on a roof in East Williamsburg; the trio will play a live soundtrack to the animated films of Brent Green. The event is part of Rooftop Films and boasts “the cruelest, most disturbing and delightful cartoons you'll ever see”, including work by Bill Plympton, Tony Comley and other maniacs. (The band also plays a half hour set before the films screen, and there will be an after-party at the Wreck Room around the corner.) Rooftop Films advises buying tickets in advance. Also, no roof-diving. - John Del Signore

Saturday // 8pm // The Roof of 210 Cook [210 Cook Street] // $8

2006_09_wolfmother.jpgMUSIC: Two of the best live bands we saw at SXSW earlier this year are pairing up with Gov't Mule to play the pool this weekend. Two Gallants and Wolfmother, on one bill, our knees...they are weak. This will be a great show, and we likely won't be back at the pool again this season.

Saturday // Doors at 4pm // McCarren Park Pool // $38.50

GAME: Dodgeball is so over (okay, it's really not! We love you dodgeball!) However, there is enough room in the playground for another great game: 4-Square! This weekend there is a 4-Square tournament, everyone is invited, more details here.

Sunday // 1 to 4pm // Washington Square Park // Free

THEATER: A revival of The Man Himself, by Alan Drury, opens tonight at 59E59. First produced in London in 1975, this adaptation is described as “a horrifically comic wake-up-call about Evangelical America. The Man Himself explores an everyman's drift to religious-right extremism.” We’ve not yet seen it, but it sounds somehow familiar. - John Del Signore

Sunday // Two performances, 3:30 and 7:30 pm // Tickets here
