September 3: Outstanding in the Field
Join guest chef Gabrielle Hamilton of Prune for a five-course al fresco dinner featuring produce harvested from the surrounding fields and from farms in all five boroughs and paired with wines from Long Island's Lenz Winery. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Just Food, helping support family farmers and providing city folks in low-income neighborhoods with access to high-quality, locally grown and affordable food. The New York dinner, which will be held in the community garden of La Plaza Cultural Armando Perez, is part of the Outstanding in the Field 2006 North American Farm Tour. 4 pm, La Plaza Cultural Armando Perez, Avenue C & East Ninth St. $180 per person, all inclusive for five courses with wine. September 5: Cradle of Flavor: Southeast Asia's Spice Islands
Learn about the culinary landscape of Southeast Asia. This panel discussion, moderated by James Oseland, Editor-in-Chief of Saveur and featuring authors and chefs, including Fatty Crab's Zak Pelaccio (pictured here cooking at Water Taxi Beach), is part of the Asia Society's Asian Food Series. September 5: Oaxaca Dinner at Maya
