xnxox, you are one classy person. Nagin is the same guy who grossly and knowingly lied about death toll figures and occurences inside the Superdome to stir up the national media. THe same man who said yellow school buses were not good enough to get his consitiutants out of harm's way, thus causing many more people to suffer than necessary. He's also been a great blocker of federal funds -- or if it's there, what exactly is he doing wth it then? -- that have been readily available for his people.

They re-elected him, they deal with it.

I agree with Toby. Why not build your house on the side of a volcano, oh right, it might erupt. But below sea level is totally the way to go. No chance of water getting in there.

If you aren't all suffering from New Orleans/Katrina fatigue, here's my own minor contribution to the collective gumbo.

It includes a dude I met in the Big Easy who really hates New York City.

Enjoy.

I hate to say it, but you should not build below sea level, but what do you expect from people foolish enough to re-elect Nagin.

Yay, thanks for the post! We're hoping to sell 3,000 books -- which means we means can donate $10,000 to EACH of our non-profits! As always, we love the Gothamist!

The url for the book entitled, "Signs of Life: Surviving Katrina" should be --> http://www.signsoflifebook.com
Sorry if that was unclear a few moments ago.

Thanks!

Who wrote that NY Post editorial, a 12 year old?
I suppose the hole in the ground was all made up too five years later.
I've never experienced a flood and never hope. I dread having a roof leak so a flood is unimaginable.
And, basically it was a flood that caused most of the damage to NO.

No, we are not affiliated with the Shake Shack in anyway. I thought I'd mention it in this regard because many other restaurants who are patricipating in the event are a little more swank.

Addtionally, the Post's editorial about Katrina today is pretty risible, trying to blame the media and regular folk.

Is Gothamist an owner of the Shake Shack? Why does it come up in a post almost every day? Full disclosure, please.
