Yesterday's Action: Escaping from LA

2006_04_syankeeslogo.jpg-Yankees 11, Angels 8: The game ended a lot closer than it should have, but the Yankees salvaged the final game of the three-game set. Jeff Karstens earned his first Major League victory, but not without plenty of run support from Bernie Williams and Derek Jeter, who hit two home runs apiece. The Yankees went 2-4 on their trip, but so did the Red Sox, so New York's lead -- just like it was before the two teams went west.
-Hudson Valley 3, Brooklyn 1: A two-run second stood up for the Renegades, who held the Cyclones scoreless for the final eight innings.
-Aberdeen 7, Staten Island 2: No harm, no foul for the Class A Yankees, who still lead their division by five games over the Cyclones.
