the orange paint line goes from river to river, as north as 13th street and as south as Grand street. it pretty much zigzags through the east village, les, soho and the west village. i have no idea what it means, but a friend reported a bike with orange paint on the tires.

Let me guess: another whiney transplant to this region. I remember kids trying to pull the bars off my window above my bed. There were some serious urban problems in the 80s, and drugs were just a part. I remember some whiney, white-afroed Brooklyn transplant claim that it was a "media myth" Brooklyn was ever violent, and that Bed-Stuy was "always safe" to walk around, even back in the 80s (even though half of the Brooklyn cab services still refuse to drive through the neighborhood).

the crack "epidemic" existed only in time magazine, the evening news, and the mind of bill "jackpot" bennett, my friend. i suggest reading "Crack In America: Demon Drugs and Social Justice." it's on amazon etc, get yerself educated.

Crack-slinging competition? What the fuck is that? Are all of you people rubes from the Midwest? Crack is about as funny as rape, which I guess in the transplant New Yorker scene is hilarious. Of course, most of the people on this board or in Brooklyn, Ohio never experiened the joys of urban living during the crack epidemic. Go back home!!!! Please.

Doesn't anyone remember the purple footprints that used to flow around the city? Used to lead to a community garden downtown, I think. The orange line is derivative, at best.

The orange paint is on 4th street as well. Between avenues D and B. Also seen in Tribeca and Soho. My theory?: Banksy. Or someone who knows his work.

Jeez, why the hate for the Iliad? Aside from its importance for being the first work of western literature and, it holds up pretty well even today. You might actually like it. After all, it's called a classic for a reason. So, kids, DO read the Iliad.
