You see, this is why Gothamist shouldn't make fun of New Jersey. Bluefish is a common catch there and those of us fortunate enough to have grown up in the Garden State already know how delicious it is. I guess that people from NJ are more sophisticated than everybody else (kidding).
"It takes the Greenmarket ethic and injects some cool—his last gig was in Williamsburg—that this neighborhood could definitely use."
This sentence - and its implied sentiment - is flat out stoopid. Plus, it does nothing in terms of explaining whatever "eclectic Latin" style cooking may be.

I, too, have never noticed this place - though it's site states it's opening in Autumn 2006 (which is technically is not).
In any case - I happen to be a big fan of Beso and Bogota, so aside from Cafe Mexicano and Maria's, which are alredy on the block - I'm not so sure that even more are needed.
(though I have a feeling I'll probably check it out at some point)

Crikey, quite a hata-party you have going on here. Not to pile on, but I think the Palo Santo link might be broken.
Strange about the location - I think I must walk past here every day on way from the subway and never noticed it.
The Slope probably does need some modernised Latin American places - it's dominated by old-school Mexican places or pretty tame tex-mex joints.
also, you missed The Orchard, where the chef/owner did all the wood work.
