THEATER: Among the many great things about the Fringe Festival is that it makes theatre available on Mondays, when almost all venues are usually blacked out. 34 different shows are on today, to be exact, including Armageddon Dance Party, David L. Williams' inspired, hilarious take on our precarious times, in which a couple does what comes naturally when they hear the end of times is nigh: invite people over and crank up the music to drown out the horror and sadness welling up from within. Smart writing and great acting got it a gold star in yesterday's reviews and is the sort of Fringe show that should get an extension, but in case it doesn't be sure to go now. - Mallory Jensen
Tonight 7:30pm, Wed. 3:30pm, Sat. 5pm // Linhart Theater [440 Lafayette] // Tickets at the door
MOVIE: It would be cooler to see this in our "sixth burrough", but this will have to do. Tonight Rocky Rocky gets some play on the Bryant Park screen. Mr. Balboa throws some punches and maybe even gets a date with Adrian.
5pm, Movie at Sundown // Bryant Park [W 42nd St. and Sixth Ave] // Free
EVENT: The fine folks over at Nublu continue tonight with their sunset BBQ. A little of the suburbs right downtown. $1 hotdogs and music by East Village Radio's DJ Bryant K and DJ Queen Majesty.
8pm, Every Monday // Nublu (62 Ave C) // Free
MUSIC: We already mentioned the show we're hosting with Productshop NYC tonight, so of course we suggest you come by there. Tiny Masters of Today, Slowlands and The Diggs will all rock the legendary CBGB's stage.
8pm // CBGB [315 Bowery] // $7
Of course, there is also Madonnathon over at BB Kings. Each year "the thon" goes down to celebrate the material girl's birthday. The night will be filled with impersonators singing the early to current tunes by Madonna that most of us couldn't afford to hear sung by the real thing on her recent Confessions tour.
9pm // B.B. Kings Blues Club [237 West 42nd St] // $17
