Photograph of the Day: Googly Eyed Pipes

2006_08_20_googlyeyes.jpg

Like S.D., who took the above photo, we've noticed these googly eyes around popping up around town lately. Anybody know whose they are? We totally get a kick out the pipe people looking out at us as we walk down the street. It kind of reminds us of one of our favorite children's books, Stephen T. Johnson's Alphabet City in which the artist finds all 26 letters of the alphabet hidden in regular New York City street scenes.

alife and all those corny expensive "fitted baseball hat, jeans and nike dunk" i.e. aNYthing, etc. brands are disgustingly played out and lame.

Those look like "Moon Eyes" -- the logo of Dean Moon's legendary hot rod equipment company in Los Angeles. They've been selling eye decals since the 50's.

they are stickers from the Alife store/Rivington Club on rivington.

they make a cookie monster hat that uses those eyes.

  • they're the work of the "Googly Eye Cru" - been seeing these around town over the last 6 months or so, with more and more frequency.
