THEATER: "A black comedy about a family tree that is gradually rotting away": Brutality of Fact, Keith Reddin's play about two sisters -- one an alcoholic and one a newly converted, zealous Jehovah's Witness -- their crazy mother and an estranged husband, sounds a bit like something from the Fringe gone uptown a few blocks, which in our book is a very good thing; previews start tonight for this show that is likely to provoke plenty of laughs in some unexpected places. - Mallory Jensen

Through Sept. 10, Thurs.-Sat. 8pm, Sun. 2pm // Urban Stages [259 W 30th St] // Tickets via Smarttix

MOVIE: Movies with a View, the weekly free film in DUMBO, shows Raiders of the Lost Ark tonight. Mmm...Harrison Ford. Uh, anyway, Halcyon DJs spin, free valet bike parking and snacks available. Mmm...snacks.

6pm, Movie at Sundown // Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, DUMBO // Free

PARTY: Step into a giant advertorial tonight at the Jane Magazine party. Free drinks at the Mavi Jeans store!

6 to 9pm // Mavi Jeans Store [832 Broadway] // Free, RSVP

MUSIC: To be honest, Liza Minnelli sort of freaks us out. But she's talented and we're sure there are some of you out there who'd enjoy a free performance by her. So tonight, head over to Coney Island to hear her belt out some tunes at the Seaside Summer Concert Series, for free.

7:30pm // Asser Levy/Seaside Park, Coney Island // Free
