WNBC Will Get NYCTV Programming

2006_08_wnbcnyc.jpgWNBC, aka Channel 4, and the city have worked out a deal that will have NYC TV programs “$9.99,” “Blueprint NYC,” “Cool in Your Code,” “Eat Out NY,” and “New York 360° run on WNBC during the 11AM-12PM timeslot on weekdays. And, combined wtih four minutes of commercial time for city events and PSAs, the city hopes viewers will get to know more about the city. And Martha fans, don't worry - her show moves to 10AM, while Ellen moves to 4PM to go head-to-head with Oprah. Our only question is, will this mean WNBC reporters will get preferential treatment from City Hall?

NYC TV on being on WNBC come this September.

What about Inside the Archives???

Screw Project Runway, there is no greater guilty pleasure for a NYC geek.

Yeah...but what's with the sleek, black, rain coat the host of "secrets of NY" always wears? Is she in The Matrix?

This is a win-win situation for everyone.
WNBC gets quality local programming, the city gets more exposure, and viewers get something good to watch. One thing is they are sticking it up against The Price Is Right, which may explain why they are sticking this in the hard to counterprogram hour.

Now did anyone else catch Richard Huff in today's Daily News major error when he used the old WNYC-TV call sign, which was the television station sold during Rudy's administration in the 1990s. NYCTV programs air on WNYE-TV. Oops!

What about new york noise? The stay-at-home set needs a little NYC rock in their lives too.

NBC already has a low rent NYC touristy show.
It's called Jane Hansen's NY.

"Yeah...but what's with the sleek, black, rain coat the host of "secrets of NY" always wears? Is she in The Matrix?"

No, Kelly Choi and her producers are just pandering to the guys with yellow fever who have an additional fetish for pvc, rubber, or latex clothing. You've got to know your demographics.

NYCTV is the BEST! Hopefully the exposure will esnsure the various shows survival. Some of them are really great. And I love Jane Hansen's New York too, but the way. They all do some great insider looks at the city.

I've seen NY Noise..and I enjoy that channel nyctv..It is like the UHF of 2006...i love all of the music shows..

I love It's My Park on NYC-TV, a show all about NYC's -- parks. There are many interesting that take place in the parks that I had no idea about -- bee-keepers, dog beaches, and wheelchair softball? Who knew?

Why bother shifting Ellen around? Her show is harmless. What they SHOULD do is cancel all those dumb soap operas.

Just as long as they don't air that crap That's So New York, it's recently gotten bad! What the hell happened to Kela Walker?!!! She's vanished from the network!

It's My Park has potential, but the show totally sucks right now as is. Whoever produces it looks like a freakin' amateur, I mean I've seen better porns shot with more skill. While the possibilities are there, the editing, the pacing and the interviews of the show totally put me to sleep - they should just air that on that crap channel where they throw all the boring stuff (74). Hell $9.99, Secrets and Blueprint have shown parks and boring things before, but at least they made them fun with hosts acting out or doing off the wall crap, but serious asking an old lady who's a parks employee what's so nice about the park? Gee I guess I'll take a scripted answer, I'm sure they won't say anything bad about their park. At least the other shows sometimes had stuff which probably should've been cut out, but got left in - like that one episode with the goofy white guy, what's his name, Bryan Macmullin? He did this weird thing with a chicken bone (or was it a branch) on an island and that was funny as hell or the time he was trying to talk and he had, um, somethign in his mouth (cucumbers? I forget, but it was shot at night or indoors). It's My Park needs more spice or new blood.

Just saw Amy Palmer interview Martha on NY360 degrees. its a fun show. Like a local access hollywood.

This deal with NBC is a tremendous achievement for NYC TV. It is really amazing to see how far the network has come since the days it was 'Crosswalk TV' back in the 90s. Good job Mayor Bloomberg!

I saw the ads for NYC TV on WNBC and finally checked it out this morning. saw a show called "Eat-Out" and it was really cool. Now I will definitely tune in again and also check out the main nyctv channel (25 I believe)

Clearly NYC TV has grown leaps and bounds from there humbly beginnings as Crosswalks. Now with the new deal with NBC I'm estatic to see what develops, but let be for real, as a Cacasian female even I know that NBC stands for "Nothing but Crackers". I'm tired of the lack of diversity. What ever hapeened to KELA on THE KARPET. Please don't let NYC TV become so consumed with NBC that they push true talent and skill out the back door. That host has true talent and could be the next undiscover Oprah. If NYC TV doesn't wise up, and create more then minuscule glimpses of the show and it's host; they may lose more than the NBC deal.

YES WILKELA WALKER IS THE TRUE GEM OF NYCTV. SHE IS CUTE AND HAS TALENT. IM NOT SURE IF I BUY THE OPRAH ANGLE, BUT I COULD DEFINTELY SEE HER AS AN NBC TODAY SHOW ENTERTAINMENT REPORTER. SHE HAS MUCH MORE RAW TALENT THAN AMY PALMER WHO IS SO "OVER THE HILL"

I have been watching the NYC-TV fare on NBC-4 since last week and, barring 9/11 and presidential interruptions, I have generally been impressed with the quality of the programming.

kela walker has no personality and her grammar is horrendous. she cant even string two sentences together so not sure what you are talking about here guys. cmon.

who cares about her grammar. she has a bod i'd love to unwrap

user-pic

yo trublu - relax, tv is 'bout body and sexiness an area where k-walker is a PhD...so F the grammar

word. kela walker is one hota mamacita

thanks god for nyc-tv/wnye/25! its my FAV channel

well one thing just about anyone can agree on is that the nyctv abbes are all hotter than jane hansen and the rest of the wnbc female crew...

WORD. I LOVE THE BLOCK... WHO THE HELL LIKES THOSE STUPID JUDGE SHOWS.

nbc took a big gamble but it looks like its paying off. the shows are fantastic

The ratings say otherwise though. Why do you think they moved the block to 12 pm now? NBC was losing too many viewers right after Martha. Most of the shows are re-edited old shows, sprinkled with new stuff.

i think that this deal is a harbinger of big things to come for nyctv

A harbringer? You mean the descend of the network as the shows start to have less and less quality? The one thing that is ridiculous about NYC TV is their lack of professionalism. While other shows are shooting their episodes and editing them first before airing them, NYC TV seems to be doing it as they go along, which is why we get constant repeats of episodes. I mean Kelly is hot, and I'd do Amy also if I had a few drinks, but seeing them non-stop is... well it's tiresome.

i really enjoy the NYCTV NBC shows, especially Eat Out and Coll in the Code.

all daytime programming sucks on nbc and the nyctv shows are no exception

not true. the nyc-tv shows are ahead of their time. Fast-forward a few years and all tv, whether on the web or conventional tv - it will all look like nyc-tv.

I know this guy who is a cameraman at NYC-TV. ANd he is totally hot. Elliot something or other. HOT HOT HOT!! Put him in FRONT of the camera!!

the camera guy's name is Elliot Stern. he IS good looking.

the nyctv execs are totally partial to women hosts: Amy, Kelly, Maryam, Kela, Julie etc

I am a big fan of Amy Palmer. Glad to see NBC is too. She is the next big thing in the entertainment world.

user-pic

I have two questions - is Amy Palmer the same women who is on Air America Radio? Also, how tall is Amy Palmer? When I have seen her on TV she is always in heels and even then looks short. What is she like 4'11"?

Kela Walker is the break-out star here. She's hot, and has that "likability" factor - love her!! I would love to see her hosting her own show!! Girls and guys can relate to her!

Kela Walker is the break-out star here. She's hot and has that "likability" factor. She's appealing to both girls and guys - love her!! I would love to see her hosting her own show!!

Amy Palmer looks real short and broad. I think she's like not even 5 feet!
