Oh, happy day! Banksy, the most famous of all British street-artists, has been putting up new work in Williamsburg. So far, we've spotted these shots on Flickr-- but please, if you see any others, send them in to photos@gothamist right away.
A little more info on Banksy: his official site, some recent Banksy work in NYC and LA, and the Wooster Banksy archives.

Yeah, I saw him and his friend trying to put a piece up on my friends door so we tossed some beer bottles at him from the roof. He ran away.

This piece looks phenomenal in person. The two characters are about 40 ft apart with the cord spooling all over the ground.
Throwin beer bottles?? It's an honor to have a Banksy on your door! You should be so lucky...
We were on the roof and just saw this dude spilling paint all over the ground in front of the door. We yelled "what the fuck are you doing? That's our door you know." They wouldn't answer us and was trying to hurry up and get out of there...
isn't this vandalism, pure and simple?
collin (and gothamist), where in williamsburg is this piece located? i'd like to check it out.
It may sorta be vandalism - but it sure ain't pure and simple. Lovit!
Banksy's work is incredible. If you guys don't want him, Toronto will gladly take him off your hands, free of charge.
How long until the "sell-out" comment emerges...tick...tick....
i think it just did
You forgot to mention how Banksy was able to sneak his own art into four of the most important museums in NYC, namely the Metropolitan Art Museum, the Museum of Natural History, the Brooklyn Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. With the aid of some super glue, Banksy affixed his own masterpieces to the walls of these eminent institutions. Too funny!

Wonderfull painting/artwork/grafitti. I like what he says on his website, especially the following paragraph:
'The time of getting fame for your name on its own is over. Artwork that is only about wanting to be famous will never make you famous. Any fame is a by-product of making something that means something. You don't go to a restaurant and order a meal because you want to have a shit.'
simple and brilliant...like his work
ooookay. it's an easy visual joke eg "wires (dangerous) can be jumpropes (fun)!" and doesn't have much/any site-specific relevance, unlike some things he did, say, on the wall in israel. and, of course, its vandalism, but that's a different conversation....
the point being: he comes to the big apple and this is what we get? hold him to a higher standard.
wow..that grafiti look real.. look like in 3D
Ugh. Everybody has to be an art critic.
more isn't better
Banksy in Brooklyn is a real treat! Does anyone know where some of his stuff is located?
tee hee.
Yes, buildings are ugly, architects have no sense of style, let's cover their work in shit. More is more.
This is on North 6th between Wythe and Kent (just on the other side of Galapagos and North Six)
i'm sick of street art. zzzzz
saw some killer banksy tees for sale at some store in park city, utah @ chester's blacksmith shop...never seen them before....
Anyone know if this is still up?
Also wondering if it's still up. . .
Went to scope it out yesterday and it was taken down. Not sure when.
