Last Night's Action: San Diego Sweep

2006_04_smetslogo.jpg-Mets 7, Padres 3: As hard as it might be to believe, the Mets hadn't swept a three-game series at home until the beat the Padres on Thursday. And no, they hadn't swept a four-game series either. Orlando Hernandez is not to be forgotten, and the Mets lead their division by 14 games. According to baseballprospectus.com, the Mets have a 99.4 percent chance of making the playoffs. Wow.

-White Sox 5, Yankees 4: The Yankees were unable to come back all the way in their loss to the White Sox. Mike Muissina allowed five runs over six innings in the lost. The Yankees cut the lead to one run in the 7th inning when they scored two on a Melky Cabrera home run.

-Brooklyn 4, Lowell 1: Jonathan Schemmel went 4-for-5 to lead the Cyclones.

-Staten Island 10, Tri-city 2: A six-run sixth helped the Yankees, who are tied with the Cyclones for the division lead. Both are 30-20.

Are those the Red Sux I see in the rear view mirror..?

  • hey now

Mussina only allowed 3 runs. Errors accounted for rest. WTG A-Rod along with an 0-4 batting night.

  • Moose got screwed in the second inning. A pair of errors and generally sloppy fielding resulted in most of those runs of the Yankees' loss.

  • Ya kinda feel a little bad for Piazza. He was supposed to lead them to a ring, and the first year he's not there - they have the best chance in years. The least they could have done was give the Padres a win!
