Last Night's Action: One-run Squeakers

-Yankees 7, White Sox 6: Randy Johnson threw six no-hit innings, and the Yankees didn't blow a six-run lead to take the second game from Chicago. Bobby Abreu hit a homer, and, besides Kyle Farnsworth's allowing four runs, Johnny Damon's leaving the game with a groin injury was the Yankees' only bad news. Boston lost again to Kansas City, so the Yanks are up by three over the Red Sox. If they can carry that cushion into the five-game series at Fenway Park later this month, they'll be in good shape.

-Mets 4, Padres 3: Former Mets catcher Mike Piazza hit two homers off Pedro Martinez, but the Mets still took their second straight from San Diego. Piazza even got a curtiain call after his first home run, but when he appeared to turn the game in the Padres' favor, the crowd turned cooler. Piazza already enjoyed multiple standing ovations during Tuesday's series opener. As Martinez pointed out, the ovations were deserved for a man who revived the franchise.

-Lowell 4, Brooklyn 3: The Cyclones allowed three in the eighth to blow their two-run lead.

-Staten Island 8, Tri-city 1: Consecutive two-run innings in the fourth and fifth led the Yanks.
